Bike Ark Beast 219 Review

Bike Ark is an Indian bicycle brand which has been around for couple of years. They started with fixed gears bicycles and then moved on to hybrid bicycles with refreshing new designs. Now this brand has forayed into City Bicycles with the launch of the Beast. We got the opportunity to test ride this bicycle and here is what we thought. Weight: 12.5 kgs Usage: Commuting/Leisure

An aesthetic and comfortable to ride single-speed bicycle for commutes and leisure rides.

Snapshot

The Bike Ark Beast (2019) is built on a strong Steel frame with a Steel rigid fork. This frame has been built to give a comfortable riding experience and the strength of Steel made sure it can withstand the hardest of bumps on urban roads. The frame geometry was comfortable and comes in 1 standard frame size. The fork on this bicycle is made of Steel and is sleek in design.

The Beast (2019) is a Single-Speed bicycle. This simple drivetrain is easy to maintain and also pedals smoothly on city roads with minimal elevations. The 44T Steel crankset along with a 18 teeth freewheel made sure the pedalling motion and acceleration was easy even from a stand still point.

Bike Ark's design has set a high standard in their previous fixie's and hybrids. The Beast City Bicycle which I test rode came in a smooth matte finish Olive Green primary colour with Black and White as the secondary colours for the graphics. The curved top tube, bold text on the top tube and the wide handlebar enhance the overall aesthetics of this bicycle.

V-Brakes handle the braking on the Beast 219. These brakes were precise and powerful enough for riding amidst traffic on urban roads. The plastic brake levers were basic but did the job well with constant use on busy streets. The Steel 6mm handlebar comes with a slight raise in the middle which made the posture comfortable. The grips were designed to give support to the palms but it did lack that extra bit of cushioning which can be felt when riding with sweaty palms.

The standard V-brakes at the front and rear were ideal for braking on busy city roads

The Bike Ark Beast rolled on a pair of 26” x 1.75” tires. These tires with its 26” circumference were fast rolling and perfect for city commutes and riding through traffic. The tread pattern provided enough traction for safe riding on both wet and dry urban roads. The stock saddle on this bicycle has just enough cushioning and width to keep the rider comfortable.

This bicycle has comfortable frame geometry and comes with a strong yet lightweight Steel frame which was comfortable to ride. The single-speed drivetrain is easy to maintain and is ideal for short commutes and leisure rides. Priced at Rs.7,299 (as on 17th September 219) the Bike Ark Beast (2019) is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a simple and easy to ride bicycle for commuting and leisure rides in the city.Prices and Specifications/Components are subject to change by the brand, without due notice.
