Btwin Elops 100 Classic - Review

The Btwin Elops 1 is a traditional steel bodied, city bicycle. Though steel frames are often heavier than their alloy counterparts, they are known to be sturdy and durable. The frame has a dropped top tube, and a step through frame, making mounting and dismounting the bicycle easy. While some may say that a low step through frame is essentially a woman's bicycle design, Btwin has categorized this bicycle under unisex. The design of the bicycle frame with the seat lower than the handlebar allows a comfortable, upright riding position. The bicycle has a rigid fork and is available in two sizes - S/M and L/XL.

The Btwin Elops is a single-speed bicycle, that is perfect for city commuting and leisure riding. The crankset on the bicycle is a 4T x 17mm, which allows for comfortable pedalling power in a city. Additionally, the drivetrain has a chain cover.

The Btwin Elops has been designed keeping simplicity and elegance as the centric theme. The paint job is simple, housing just the “Btwin” branding painted in white on the frame. This enhances the simplicity of the bicycle. The bicycle is available in a single color, a matte finish stainless steel. Overall, it has pleasing aesthetics, for a simple no-fuss city commute-oriented bicycle.

The Btwin Elops comes equipped with aluminium V-Brakes. The Brake levers are well placed on the handlebar to ensure comfortable reach to use them. The stopping power is adequate for a city bicycle, and is sufficient to bring the bicycle to a complete stop without requiring extra effort.The handlebar on the bicycle is a large, curved handlebar, to allow for additional comfort while riding. Btwin has designed this handlebar keeping in mind easy reach and a relaxed, comfortable riding position. The handlebar would resemble that on a ‘cruiser’ bike. The wide handlebar allows for easy maneuvering in crowded riding conditions.

The Btwin Elops is equipped with 26” tires that are lightly threaded and are well suited for city riding conditions. They rolled smoothly on flat roads as well as over bumpy, rugged surfaces. Additionally, the bicycle comes with an attached matte finish, stainless steel mudguard. The saddle on the bicycle was soft and comfortable, adequate for city commutes and leisure rides around town.
