Taiwanese manufacturer Giant Bicycles is the world's largest bicycle manufacturing company. Apart from their own line of bicycles, they manufacture for dozens of other companies as well. They have bicycles encompassing all categories and are known for their MTB bicycles. But, seeing the increasing trend in city and commuter bicycles, we're going to have a look at a bicycle from their Hybrid line.

The Giant Escape 3 comes off as a bit of confusion. It's got an ALUXX Grade Aluminum frame that looks stunning, but its auxiliary components bring it down. The handlebar grips were bare minimum rubber and chrome colored crank arms are quite the eye sore. However, rider position was good and the bicycle was comfortable once I had my cycling gloves on.

Stunning ALUXX Grade Aluminium frame
The Shimano Tourney shifters are entry level and this is something you will realize right from your first ride. If you've cycled before you're going to expect a lot more out this bicycle in terms of its drivetrain and components. We'd definitely consider upgrading the parts on this bicycle. The EF41 shifters would be the first to go; replaced by the EF51. Almost all hybrid bicycles at this price range have it. The Tourney Rear Derailleur was a bit of a letdown as well. All in all, this is where the bicycle loses out.

Entry level shifters
This would be the bicycle's biggest selling point. It has amazing handling complemented with great braking and brake levers. The Tektro Rim Brakes are very reliable and offered spectacular braking on my ride. The EF51 levers were responsive as ever and made me miss the integrated shifters that much more.

Spectacular braking capability
The ride was great. It handled the roads really well and is great for cycling at most paces. You can't expect to break any records with speed, but it can get you from A to B comfortably. The Giant Connect saddle was a little stiff but that's something cycling shorts or a gel saddle cover can fix.

Built for comfort and not speed
The Giant Escape 3 is definitely a good bicycle. It's comfortable and is a trusted brand. That said, the components on the bicycle are entry level and the bicycle is priced at a mid-premium range. Upgrading these components is a good option and is something we'd definitely recommend.Prices are subject to change by the brand, without due notice
