Giant Rincon (2019) - Review

Giant's vast experience in aluminium tube shaping technology is used in the ALUXX grade Alloy frame in the Rincon with flowing forms of both the top and down tubes, which provide a rigid backbone for the rest of the chassis. The tubing is practical and well thought-out, from the ample mud clearance to the upright riding shape for the urban needs. Geometry-wise the Rincon couldn't be more different, with a shorter top tube and chain seat stay angles emphasizing easy handling.The Stock Suspension Fork comes with a working travel of 7-8mm travel which was sufficient for flat trails and bumpy city roads.

The Giant Rincon (2019) gets a 3x7-Speed Shimano Tourney TY3 drivetrain, with three gears in front and seven in the back, giving you the capabilities to climb and go fast on urban roads. These gears are just enough for moderate level climbs and quick shifts on trails. The Shimano ST-EF5 trigger shifters were the standard offer to operate Tourney derailleurs. For the price of this bicycle I expected to see Shimano Altus at the front and back as derailleurs.

The Giant Rincon 219 that I test rode came in a Blue primary colour with Black and White as the secondary colours for graphics. The paint job is glossy and is as simple and elegant as it can get. The internal cable routing not only made the bicycle look neat it also saves the cables from wear and tear. The colour-coded suspension fork and Saddle adds to the aesthetic appeal of this bicycle.

This hardtail MTB features Tektro V-brakes at the front and rear. They are powerful in both wet and dry roads, so you won’t have to worry about braking when cycling on rainy days. These V-brakes performed well during the test ride and were powerful enough for moderate trails and rough urban roads.The Giant Raiser Handlebar was lengthy with a slight raise from the middle which contributed to the comfort of the rider in terms of riding posture.

The Rincon (2019) gets Giant's own brand Quick Cross tires, matching double walled Alloy rims to provide quick and stable rolling. The 27.5” x 1.95” Giant tires were treaded to give maximum traction on all kinds of roads and flat rough trails and were fast rolling as well. The stock Giant Contact Comfort Neutral saddle has been designed for trail rides. The shape and width of the saddle was comfortable to keep the rider comfortable without any soreness and slips.
