The Roam 2 Disc is built on an ALUXX grade aluminium frame. The geometry on the Roam's frame is a good balance of comfort and sporty and is ideal for anyone wanting to cycle for fitness and fun but still be able to ride with a bit of aggression. Giant have perfected a technique of working with aluminium which results in all sorts of wonderful benefits. The frame tubes are welded perfectly and the bicycle is relatively light and stiff where it needs to be. The frame is a little heavy, which will be felt on climbs or sudden accelerations. The Suntour XCT HLO front suspension fork looks solid and works well on rough urban roads. The 63mm travel wasn’t much but was sufficient to make your ride comfortable during commutes, touring and flat trails.

The ALUXX aluminium frame is perfect mix of strength and comfort and comes in 4 different frame sizes
The Shimano Acera at the front and rear as derailleurs on the Roam 2 Disc are mid-range MTB gearing with a wide range of gears for climbs and quick accelerations. These derailleurs worked perfectly without any lag or slips on the chain. The Shimano Altus shifters were super quick in transmission and this helped in getting to the right speed with ease.

The 27-speed Shimano Acera drivetrain was perfect for all round usage in both flat trails and urban roads
The Roam 2 Disc that I test rode came in a cement grey primary colour with dark blue and fluorescent yellow as the secondary colours. The slanting top tube with smooth welds makes the bicycle look aggressive yet elegant. The protective dust covering under the bottom tube has the cables running under them, which saves the cables from dirt and wear. The colour coded rims and suspension forks enhance the aesthetics of this bicycle.

This bicycle comes in 2 colour variants. Matte Charcoal with Neon Red and Cement Satin Grey with Fluorescent Yellow and Blue
The Shimano M315 hydraulic disc brakes handles the braking in the Giant Roam 2 Disc (2018). These brakes from Shimano are high quality and is surely the best set of brakes you can put on a bicycle meant for multiple terrains. During the test ride the brakes were perfectly balanced whilst turns and also when jamming the brakes. The Giant Connect low raise handlebar was perfect for open chested rides with anti-slippery grips.

The Shimano hydraulic disc brakes were balanced and reactive on both wet and dry conditions
The Giant Crosscut 7x38c tires were the perfect cross tires for an all-rounder bicycle like the Roam 2 Disc. These tires were well treaded yet sleek. Along with Giant double walled alloy rims these tires aren’t heavy whilst being strong enough to handle flat trails. The Giant Contact Comfort Saddle was ergonomic and can keep the rider sore-free on long distance rides. The overall ride quality was comfortable on both trails and urban roads.

The 7x38c tires had enough traction for tar and non-tar surfaces
There are lot of bicycles in the market which are categorized as all-rounders but this is one bicycle which does full justice to its description. The smooth gears and safe hydraulic disc brakes make it good to ride on both flat trails and hard urban roads. The extra weight of the frame could be questionable on urban roads but won’t be felt whilst riding on trails. Priced at Rs.48,5 the Giant Roam 2 Disc is ideal for any anyone looking to buy a bicycle for commuting on a daily basis and also occasional weekend trail and touring rides.Prices are subject to change by the brand, without due notice.
