Hero Lectro H7+ Review

Lectro is a sub-brand of Hero cycles which produces electric cycles. The H7+ is one of its models which is simple, clean and effective bike for all. The H7+ gets a removable battery and max of 4km range.Weight: 25kgs Usage:Leisure/Commuting

A practical commuter

The Lectro H7+ has a strong and sturdy carbon steel frame. The stance of the bike feels a lot close to a lightweight motorbike. The weight of the frame and other components keep's the bike planted to the road while riding it. The size of the bike will be easily adaptable by most of the riders. The ride on the bike is smooth and comfortable. This bike is more of full throttle use than pedal assist mode, as u will be freewheeling even at low assist mode quickly. You get carrier and mudguard mounting points but no bottle holder, which get replaced with removable battery. The battery pack is 7.8Ah Li-ION which is weather sealed and coupled to a 25W BLDC hub motor. The throttle is twist type, which is little inconvenient while riding, it's difficult to use it while holding part of your hand on the grip and partly twisting the throttle. A thumb throttle would have been better. The current setup doesn’t allow you to keep a hold on the grips while accelerating.

The bike feels well planted and comfortable to ride. New riders might need to get used to the throttle and assist kick-ins

The drivetrain is single speed. The crank is 36t and cog get a 18t. the 2x ratio gives a relaxed ride. You will not need too much effort to pull this bike. This bike is meant to be used in pedal assist mode, if you want to switch the system off and pedal the bike it's going to be difficult to haul the weight of the bike for more than 3 to 4kms. The bike can top to 25km/hr on max pedal assist or throttle mode. On lower assist levels the top speed is lower.

"
Well chosen gearing to ride the bike when the battery is out of juice

The Lectro H7+ comes in 2 colour variants maroon with red and beige with grey. The bike gets few small additions of key to turn the bike ON and OFF. The same Key is used to remove the battery for charging. There are two locations to check the battery charge level a button beside the battery. on clicking will show 4 LEDs denoting the leftover charge. And one on the controller at the handlebar also having 4 LEDs. When the battery is low on charge the last LED will start blinking. Which gives us approximately 5 to 6km of range. Most of the cable and wires are internally routed, which gives a clean look. The battery should take roughly 3 to 4hr to charge, effectively the bike can be used as a commuter for a one way of about 3km easily. The battery pack generally has 8 to 9 charge and discharge cycle.

The dark red colour gives it a professional look

The JAK super brakes are one of the most common mechanical disc brake callipers, these are paired with 16mm rotors. The brakes where perfect and had nice bite on the disc to provide good stopping power. With low pedal assist mode, the braking is smooth. When using high pedal assist or throttling please brake after u stop pedalling or after you let go of the throttle. If brakes are applied at max speed the suspension will dive fully which is difficult to handle.

"
Brakes have good punch to bring the bike to stop quickly

The Lectro H7+ comes with 27.5x2.4 Inch tyre with small button threads gives a grippy ride on tarmac and also is able handle bad road conditions. The tyre pressure must be monitored to have a good range and on assist as well as for smooth ride. The saddle feels comfortable to sit on while driving as motorbike. When pedalling if not seated on the front part of the seat thigh hurts.

"
The large volume tyres give a floating feel with slight rolling resistance

The bike is priced at ₹33,499. It's more of a motorbike than a bicycle which can be very helpful for elderly riders to get into cycling and long-distance commuters. Slap on mudguard and a carrier it can be useful to carry luggage to office or groceries.
