Snapshot

The Kross Globate 26T SS is built on a full steel frame. Steel might be looked down upon some times because of its weight but the major positive is its tensile strength which makes the frame last a lifetime if maintained properly. The frame geometry was simple and comfortable. The welding on the tubes were neat and reinforced the points well. This bicycle comes with a rigid fork made of steel. This fork was thin and has enough material to keep the fork strong while keeping the weight of the bicycle in check.

The steel frame on this bicycle is strong and robust with a simple geometry.

The Kross Globate 26T SS is a single speed bicycle. Having a single speed drivetrain makes this bicycle easy to pedal and maintain as well. The chains were smooth with strong links which made sure they never came off when put through a rigorous test. The pedals were a little narrow but had good grip patterns to make sure your feet don’t slip off. For quick commutes and rides through traffic this single speed bicycle is perfect to pedal.

The Globate 26T SS which I test rode came in a full white frame with very minimal graphics. The brand and model names on the frame were all stickers and looked low on quality. The minimal red graphics on the frame does provide a good contrast to the white primary colour. The colour-coded design on the saddle also added an aesthetic appeal to the bicycle. The bicycle is also available in a black colour variant.

This urban commuter is equipped with a pair of V-brakes. These brakes were basic but functional. During the test ride on urban streets these brakes helped reduce speed and come to a halt at will. The brake levers weren’t that strong and tight. The levers were in a comfortable hand position. The black steel handlebar has a nice raise from the middle which was wide as well. This made sure that the rider is comfortable and open chested while riding this bicycle. The grips felt a bit rough and could have had more cushioning.

The Globate 26T SS rolls on a pair of 26 inch Ralson tires. These tires are treaded well and are great for the price of this bicycle. These tires perform well on both wet and dry conditions and will also last for a longtime. The wheelset on the whole were fast and had good traction on tarmacs. The stock saddle is not just ergonomically designed but is also aesthetically great.

This single speed bicycle performed well during the test ride. The wide handlebars made the ride posture straight back and comfortable. This bicycle is simple to pedal and easy to maintain. If you are someone looking to buy a single speed bicycle for commuting in the city then the Kross Globate 26T SS priced at just Rs.6,72 is a great choice to consider.Prices are subject to change by the brand, without due notice.
