Unirox XCT 29er Review

UNIROX, a subsidiary of the United Group, was created in 1964. Unirox Bikes are an economical way to enjoy the thrills of high-performance Cycling. German innovation and manufacturing competence have been their strengths. We got the opportunity to test ride the UNIROX XCT 29ER MTB Bicycle and here is what we thought.Weight: 16kg Usage: Daily commute and off-road trails

The UNIROX XCT 29 ER is a top of the line cross country hard tail MTB with a lightweight aluminium frame

Snapshot

The UNIROX XCT 29 ER is equipped with a lightweight aluminium frame with a Cross-Country inspired geometry. The frame is built using oversized tapered head tube with concealed wring Technology which made sure the perfect balance of light weight and strength is achieved. This was evident during the test ride when the frame responded well to acceleration and climbs. The WAXA mechanical lockout alloy suspension fork was responsive during the test ride and absorbed most of the vibrations on the trail. This was possible because of its travel length and an easy to use Hydraulic Mechanical Suspension lock-out which immensely helped in making the ride faster on flatter patches.

The 9-speed drivetrain PRO WHEEL CRANK SET on the UNIROX XCT 29ER is a combination of shimano freewheel cassette and a 9-speed Shimano ALTUS as the rear derailleur. Shifting was smooth across gears, with no lags felt during the test ride. This gear combination is ideal and expected at this price point. The drivetrain is controlled by Shimano shifters, which were positioned well and easy to use.

The Shimano Altus 1x9 speed derailleurs were quick and smooth in transmission

This XCT 29ER which we test rode came in a matt black and neon green colour with white in a few places as the secondary colour. The matt finish paint job was top notch in quality. The internal cable routing for the derailleur and brake cables made the Bicycle look neat and organized.

The XCT 29ER comes with two colour options Green and Orange

The UNIROX XCT 29ER comes with Hydraulic Disc brakes from Logan. These brakes were slightly sluggish in stopping but felt balanced to use when jamming them. The levers are lengthy and make it possible to operate using just 2 fingers. The 7mm handlebar was lengthy and perfectly suited for fast trail rides

"
The handlebar should be a little wide for the right height

The UNIROX XCT 29ER rolls on a pair of “Kenda 29 x 2.1” tires that are fixed onto double-walled alloy rims. The treading and size of the tire were ideal for city commuting and off-road. The rolling resistance was fast and the tread pattern provided enough traction on wet roads as well. The stock saddle has an ergonomic shape and build to it but could have had more cushioning for better comfort.

Kenda 29 x 2.1 are fast enough and the tyre pattern provides enough traction on trails

This MTB is built for Trail rides and urban adventures. The 1x9-Speed Shimano's drivetrains give the best ride experience. Level Logan Hydraulic Disc brakes do not make this Bicycle a powerful MTB to ride. The internal cable routing on this Bicycle saves the cables from all the muck from the trails.
