Make That Century Ride Happen

With the growth of the cycling community across the country, it is becoming more common to see cyclists out on the roads at all times of the day. Weekends are a favourite for long rides - with an increase in the number of cyclists pouring over maps to chart out a 100 kilometre route to ride. There always exists an overwhelming sense of accomplishment when completing a 100km ride on any given day.

We have mapped out a few routes that make a 100km loop in cities across India.

BANGALORE

Being a city with varied terrain, Bangalore offers numerous options when it comes to cycling routes. However, to beat the traffic an early start is recommended. With pleasant weather, cycling in this city is sure to be an experience worth every minute.

CHENNAI

Flat roads and sea breeze, a combination to make any cyclist cheer. It's no wonder that Chennai has an ever growing cycling community. Being a coastal city, the heat and humidity does start peaking not very long after sunrise. Hence, it is recommended to start riding as early as you can – especially in the warmer months.

DELHI

The capital city of India has loads to offer – historical monuments, bazaars and experiences galore. What more? Cycling has become hugely popular among the residents of the NCR and there are cycling groups, clubs and events springing up left, right and center. Be it in the hot summers or the chilly winters, Delhi is sure to keep you on your saddle and two wheels!

GOA

Sun, sand and the sea. Known for it's nightlife, and as an ideal vacation retreat Goa sure does hold a surprise. The cycling community here is fast growing and strong. No one ever thought Goa could get any better, well cyclists are in for a treat!

Being situated in the Western Ghats region by the sea, Goa offers a varied terrain to cycle on – both off-road and on it. Gear up and hop on your saddle from one beach to another.

HYDERABAD

Home of the World's largest cycling club online (the Hyderabad Bicycling Club) – Hyderabad boasts an ever-growing, strong cycling community. With varied terrain – hilly and flat regions, this city is sure to keep you glued to your saddle.

1. Birla Mandir - Bhongir Fort/ Bhuvanagiri and back
2. Gachibowli - Manjeera Reservoir and back
3. Charminar - Srisailam road (u-turn @ kadthal) and back

KOCHI

God's own country, Kerala – home to Kochi. Kerala is synonymous with scenic landscapes and lush greenery. Cycling some of the routes in Kerala is bound to be an experience of a lifetime.

MUMBAI

Aamchi Mumbai, a bustling city on the West Coast of the Country home to India's claim to fame – Bollywood! This cultural melting pot upholds cycling as well. With several cycling clubs widespread across the city, and numerous cycling events being held, Mumbai is truly the place to be. It is recommended to start your ride as early as possible to avoid traffic during peak hours.
