Merida Speeder 200 (2022) - Review

The Merida Speeder 2 (2022) is built using a Speeder Lite II Alloy frame. This frame at first glance looks a bit aggressive in geometry and this is because this Bicycle is a flat bar Road focused Hybrid Bicycle with an Endurance Road Bike geometry for a good mix of stability and comfort. Merida's Speeder Lite triple butted frames claim to offer an optimum Stiffness-to-Weight (STW) ratio which was evident during the ride.The CF2 Carbon bladed rigid fork helps in keeping the front part of the Bicycle lightweight.

The Speeder 2 is equipped with Shimano's Sora 2-Speed at the front and Shimano Sora 9-Speed at the rear which worked smoothly during the test ride. The gears shifted down and up quickly and without any lag, this helped accelerate on flat roads with ease. The Shimano Sora derailleurs are road specific components from Shimano and thus making this a Flat bar Road Bicycle. The Shimano SL-R3 trigger shifters were easy to operate.

The Bicycle which we test rode came in a full Red gloss finish with Black graphics. The sleek top tube and thin seat stays make this Bicycle look sleek. The flat handlebar and bladed fork gives the Speeder 2 an aggressive look similar to that of a Road Bike. The graphics on the top tube and fork were elegant and aesthetic.

The Speeder 2 is equipped with Tektro M275 Hydraulic Disc brakes which are powerful and provided quick and balanced stopping power on both dry and wet roads.The Merida Comp TK handlebar on this Bicycle is 6mm in length and was flat with no raise. This made the riding posture a bit aggressive to help in efficient riding.

The Merida Speeder 2 (2022) comes with a pair of Maxxis Detonator 7x32C slick tires. Getting up to speed and maneuvering through traffic was easier with these tires, also these Maxxis tires come with a useful puncture protection layer.The Merida Comp Saddle was incredibly comfortable with sufficient padding and the perfect width for comfortable and soreness free rides.
