Weight: 15.1kgs
Category: Fitness/Trails
The Battalion K2 26 is built on an Alloy Hardtail frame. This frame is strong and robust which makes this Bicycle ready for some flat trails and rough urban roads. The frame geometry was a good mix of both aggressiveness and comfort. The top tube is slanting which gives extra standover clearance for the rider.
Being a Hardtail Bicycle, the K2 26 comes with a Suntour XCM 30 front suspension fork with a smooth functioning 80-100mm travel for a comfortable ride over rough surfaces. The suspension lock-out was useful for riding faster on flat surfaces.
The Battalion K2 26 which we test rode came in a Cyan Blue and Black dual primary colours on the frame with Grey graphics. The matte finish paint job was smooth and enhanced the bright colours. The graphics and text font were bold and racy with a fire like theme. The suspension fork and saddle are colour coded and with a stylish text font which makes the Bicycle look aesthetic.
The Battalion K2 26 comes with mid-level Shimano MTB gearing components with Shimano Altus 3-Speed at the front and Altus 8-Speed at the rear as derailleurs. These derailleurs even though being basic worked well during the test ride. The shifting process was smooth and ideal for trails and urban roads with a bit of incline.
The Repute branded Mechanical Disc brakes on the Battalion K2 26 had sufficient power and felt balanced for stoppages on both urban roads and flat trails. Sudden braking is fast and interval braking is balanced. The brake levers were standard and comfortable to use.
The Jiabao branded Alloy 680mm handlebar was wide and gave us an open chested riding posture.
The Battalion K2 26 rolls on a pair of Kenda 26” x 2.10” MTB tires. These tires were heavily treaded and provided good traction on both wet and dry trails and roads. The uniform treading made sure that cornering with these tires was safe.
The stock saddle was both ergonomic and had the perfect width to keep the rider comfortable and stable on bumpy rides.
This Hardtail MTB is built on an Alloy frame with a slanting top tube which gave a comfortable riding posture. The Suntour suspension fork with lock-out was useful to make the ride smoother and faster on flat surfaces. Priced at Rs.36,900(as on 22nd March 2023) the Battalion K2 26 is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a MTB for rough trails and urban roads.
