Italian Bicycle Manufacturer Bianchi Bicycles is known to be the oldest bicycle manufacturer that's still in existence. They have had successful teams in the Tour de France in the past and have also been responsible for creating a barrage of affordable bicycles for the common man. The Bianchi VIA Nirone is among the brand's most popular lines of bicycles that focuses on long distance riding and here's what we think of it
Bianchi has stayed true to their traditional design and colour with the Bianchi Celeste coloured frame. Since all the VIA Nirone 7 frames are the same irrespective of the components on them, you get an amazing frame with basic components at a reasonable price. The bicycle doesn't come with Handle Bar tapes so we had to add that ourselves to make sure the bicycle was good to ride. Riding geometry seemed great. With a few minor adjustments it can make a comfortable ride for most people.
The ride was great. The bicycle handled really well and the handlebar was easy to control. I was able to do elevations and declines almost effortlessly. The only downside as far as the ride is concerned is that it isn't versatile. And by that I mean even the tiniest bumps are often transmitted straight to you. We wouldn't recommend this to anyone if they plan on commuting through even the slightest of bad roads.
The Schwalbe Activ Lugano is an entry level road bicycle tyre. It does what it promises by giving you a smooth ride on paved roads. The 700x23c tyres aren't meant for anything more though. The slightest bumps can affect your ride and in the long run cause major fatigue. The brakes were pretty solid. We had absolutely no problems in this department.
The Shimano 2300 derailleur set is an excellent entry level groupset for road bicycles. Shifting was smooth and responsive. The shifters were a little tedious. As we weren't racing or attempting to break any records, we didn't need to constantly shift gears, but if you're looking to do quick shifts up and down, it will be difficult to switch gears from the drop bars.
I's easy to see why this bicycle is most peopleÈs weapon of choice when riding on highways. It appeals to all people from beginners to veterans alike. The bicycle is very comfortable and can be perfect for long rides on smooth roads. But tha's where it ends. The bicycle falls short on bad roads that can make a smooth ride very uncomfortable.
