The Btwin My Bike 2016 Single Speed bicycle is all steel in its frame like it's geared variant. The frame geometry is very simple and reminds us of a how a practical bicycle frame looked like years ago. The top tube is significantly larger than the bottom and the seat tube which shows that no compromise has been done in keeping the steel material strength where its supposed to be. The Saddle on the Btwin My Bike 2016 single speed isn't the best ergonomical design but the padding is good for the new cyclists and definitely adds to the comfort level of the bicycle.

The Btwin My Bike 2016 single speed which we test rode came in all white. It obviously wasn't the flashy kind but rather a subtle white with minimal stickering for the brand and the model name of this bicycle. The rear rack and bottle rack mounts adds to some versatility in the design. No extra thoughts have gone into the design of this bicycle and its simple aesthetics might not attract attention to your bicycle while being around your friends.

As the name suggests the Btwin My Bike 2016 is a single speed bicycle. The 44x18T gear teeth ratio is considered ideal for a single speed bicycle meant for commuting. This bicycle isn't the easiest on uphill climbs and will require that off the saddle extra effort to get up there. Single speed is the origin of bicycles and provides a simple and unique experience to cycling which is gradually being lost amidst the technological advancements in the cycling world.

The entry level helical spring V-brakes on the My Bike 2016 single speed does look basic enough for commuting. But, they clearly lacked the stopping power for sudden halts and turns during the commute in urban traffic. During the test ride in normal traffic I did not feel completely safe while cruising at high speeds as the braking never really backed me up whenever I wanted to come to a sudden halt. The brake levers were long enough and in reaching distance without any discomfort.

The 580mm steel riser handlebar was perfect to give the rider an upright and comfortable riding position. The handlebar grips were of low quality and wasn't comfortable to hold on to, giving a bit of friction burns. Buying a handlebar grip would be an inexpensive first upgrade to be made on this bicycle.

The Ralson Semi-Slick 26 x 2.0 tires are easily the best component on the Btwin My Bike 2016 single speed. These tires provide enough grip to feel safe on urban conditions and can easily tackle the flat mud roads and bumpy surfaces inside the city with ease. The ride quality on this bicycle is a quite a bit of a rattle and the jolts can be felt by the rider on every minor bump the cycle goes on. Being a full steel bicycle, this isn't a big surprise.
