The VIOO Clip 300 is from the cycling brand Btwin. Started in 1976 as Decathlon cycles, the name was changed to Btwin in the year 2006. Apart from bicycles for every age and purpose Btwin also has a wide range of accessories to offer for cyclists. Lights for bicycles are one of the most important bicycle components in terms of safety. We got the opportunity to test the Btwin Vioo Clip 300 light and here is what we thought.
The Btwin VIOO Clip 300 is a small light, with a rechargeable integrated battery. The main purpose of this light is to work as a signalling device, but I believe it can also function as a regular light. There are no visible switches, because the center of the anterior part is a switch that can be pushed, and has a circular milling to help the identification and the grip. Pressing the single button allows you to switch between ‘always on’ and ‘flashing’ mode. In addition pressing the button switches between the red and white LEDs, meaning that the Btwin VIOO Clip 300 can be used as front or rear lights. I was really impressed with this light.
With lights broadly falling into two categories – those that make you visible to others and those that enable you to see, this light falls in the former. This VIOO Clip is visible from around 100 metres away and has a battery life of close to 7 hours on both modes. The battery can recharged using the micro USB cable provided and it takes 2 hours to charge fully.
The light comes in a simple packaging, with a micro USB cable and a strap. It is available in several colours (pink, yellow, white, black and red). The Btwin VIOO Clip 300 can be clipped onto clothing, backpacks and saddle bags. It can also be strapped on to the helmet, seat post and handlebar. While using it, both the clip and strap work well, although you might struggle if you have an aero-shaped seat post or bars. This light weighs 30 grams along with the strap and has a hard plastic body. The Btwin VIOO Clip 300 looks great and is compact.
Overall Rating
I personally felt that small bicycle lights weren’t really useful but I was more than happy with the VIOO Clip 300. Mainly because it has a regulated output, 2 different colours with 2 modes for each, integrated rechargeable battery and is very easy to mount and dismount which means prevention of the light being stolen and also easy to carry along for recharging. Considering all this comes at a decent price of Rs.1,399, this is a very useful little product.
