Cannondale is one of the largest Bicycle brands in the world with a rich history. They are also one of the earliest entrants to India, bringing in their performance Bicycles to our market. From the 2019 Cannondale range we got the opportunity to test ride the Quick 5 Disc and here is what we thought.

A performance focused, fast and comfortable hybrid for commutes and long rides.
The Quick 5 Disc is built on a strong yet lightweight full alloy frame. Cannondale markets this frame as lightest in class. While numbers can vary the ride quality and stiffness this frame offers is excellent. The S.A.V.E or the Synapse Active Vibration Elimination technology on the frame is all about reducing road shock and vibration. The chainstays, seat stays, fork and seat post are the areas which help absorb the vibrations and in turn improving comfort and performance. The frame geometry provides a good mix of relaxed riding posture and a slightly forward leaning posture for better efficiency.

The Quick series of Hybrid Bicycles are known to be stylish and neat. The Quick 5 Disc which I test rode came with a Grey frame and minimalistic stripes in Green on the fork, seat tube and chain stay. The gloss paint job was top notch and did make the bicycle shine. Like always they branding was minimal with the brand name on the top tube, model name on the fork and the Series 5 on the set tube. The lack of cable routing at this price point was a let down.

The Quick 5 Disc (2019) is equipped with Shimano’s Altus at the front and Acera at the rear as derailleurs. These are mid-level MTB components predominantly used on Hybrids. This 27-Speed gear combination is perfect for urban riding as they offer quick and smooth shifting for both flyover climbs and gaining quick speeds on flat roads. The Shimano Altus shifters were easy to engage on both the index trigger and the thumb.

The Quick 5 Disc (2019) comes with Tektro M-275 160mm Hydraulic Disc brakes. These brakes are more than sufficient for City riding in traffic and help a lot when the surface is either muddy or wet. The balanced braking will help you ride safely without having the worry about stopping in time.
The C4 stock Cannondale handlebar has been a constant on this Bicycle over the years. The 640mm width and the slight 20mm raise gives the perfect riding posture for efficient yet comfortable pedalling.

The WTB Slick 700x32C tires has good control characteristics in all weather conditions. With a uniform tread pattern, it is the ideal tire for the City. The protective layer on the inside is stronger and safer. But at the same time the material is much more elastic which gives a higher level of protection with good rolling resistance.
The stock Cannondale Fitness Ergo double density Saddle was ergonomic in shape and helped be sore free for on longer rides.

From speed to comfortable ride geometry this bicycle can make you zip through traffic and also give you a long and smooth weekend ride. With a wide range of gears and Hydraulic Disc brakes this Hybrid is built for Urban performance. Priced at Rs.54,955 (as on 19th March 2020) the Cannondale Quick 5 Disc (2019) is best suited for anyone looking to buy a performance packed Hybrid for commutes, long weekend rides and even the occasional touring.
