Things We Like

  • Lightweight Alloy frame with a 100mm front suspension fork
  • Powerful and balanced Shimano Hydraulic Disc brakes
  • Heavily treaded WTB Ranger 27.5” x 2.25” tires

Things We Don't Like

  • The front derailleur could have been Shimano Altus which would have been ideal at this price
Cannondale Trail 7 27.5 2018 Frame

The Frame of the Trail 7 (27.5) (2018) is built using Cannondale’s famous S.A.V.E Technology. This frame has a tapered head tube and smooth welded edges to keep most of the material at places in the frame which is capable of taking in vibrations of the trails. The slanting top tube makes the ride geometry aggressive and comfortable as well.

The SR Suntour XCM front suspension fork comes with a massive 100mm travel which worked really well on the roughest of trails. The manual suspension lockout helped make the fork rigid and thus ride faster on flatter surfaces.

Cannondale Trail 7 27.5 2018 Frame This Alloy frame is strong and can take a lot of hitting and the 100mm suspension fork worked smoothly
Cannondale Trail 7 27.5 2018 Design

Cannondale have always set a high standard when it comes to design. The Trail 7 (27.5) (2018) which I test rode came in a full Acid Green frame with Black as the secondary colour with internal cable routing for the gear cables. The gloss finish paint job was of superior quality. This bicycle has information stickers all over the bicycle which tells the specific technical aspects of the bicycle, this adds a nice touch to the bicycle. The wide MTB tires with big threads help the bicycle look rugged.

Cannondale Trail 7 27.5 2018 Gearing

A performance focused MTB like the Trail 7 (27.5) (2018) requires precise gearing. This bicycle is equipped with a Microshift direct mount 3-Speed front derailleur and Shimano Altus 9-Speed rear derailleur. This Altus rear derailleur worked seamlessly during the test ride. The Shimano EF505 RapidFire shifters were smooth in shifting with efficient spring action.

Cannondale Trail 7 27.5 2018 Brakes and Steering

The Cannondale Trail 7 (27.5) (2018) is equipped with Shimano’s M315 Hydraulic Disc brakes. These brakes are the best you can find on a hardtail MTB with 160mm rotors. These brakes were safe and balanced on even the most slippery and roughest of trails. The Shimano Brake levers were easy to engage with just 2 or 3 fingers.

The Cannondale C4 MTB handlebar was was 680mm in length, this width made sure the rider has full control and great handling capabilities while riding.

As in the name of this bicycle this bicycle, the Cannondale Trail 7 (27.5) (2018) rolls on a pair of WTB Ranger Comp 27.5” x 2.25” tires. These tires really do own the trails, mainly because of its thick tread pattern with DNA compound and the 2.25” width. These tires provide maximum traction to keep you safe on the trails.

The stock Cannondale Stage 3 MTB Saddle is ergonomic and keeps you comfortable on fast trail rides.

Cannondale Trail 7 27.5 2018 Wheels and Saddle The WTB Ranger Comp 27.5” x 2.25” MTB tires definitely takes the trail riding experience to the next level
