CatEye is a Japanese brand and one of the largest manufacturers of Cycle Computers, Lights and Reflectors. A Cycle Computer or Cyclocomputer is a device mounted on a bicycle that calculates and displays trip information, like the instruments in the dashboard of a Car. We got the opportunity to check out the CatEye’s wired Cycle Computer the Velo 7 and here is what we thought.
The CatEye Velo 7 is a wired Cycle Computer for beginner and amateur riders, the device has a large screen which makes it easier to read while Cycling. The Velo 7 has seven functions; Current Speed, Maximum Speed, Average Speed, Trip Distance, Total Distance, Elapsed Time and Clock.
The Velo 7 from CatEye has a One Touch Button for Switching between screens. This Cycle Computer also has the following features; Auto Start/Stop, Pace Arrow, Simple Tire Size and a Programmable Odometer.
The CatEye Velo 7 has an aesthetic design and doesn’t take too much space on your handlebar. The device is powered by a single CR2032 Lithium battery with a run time of up to 3 years (1 hour use per day). The CatEye Velo 7 weighs just 30 grams, the lightweight and sleek design make this Cycle Computer a must have for any rider who is just getting into Cycling and wants to track their rides.
The CatEye Velo 7 is can be attached to any shaped handlebar with the use of Zip Ties and the FelxTight Universal bracket which comes in the Box with the Velo 7. As this is a wired Cycle Computer the device calculates the ride data via a sensor and receiver. The receiver can be attached to your Fork with the help of a zip tie and the sensor is fixed on to the Spoke of the Wheel with the help of a screw on bracket.
