Firefox is an Indian bicycle brand with a wide range of models for different riding purposes. Over the years Firefox have also forayed into performance focused bicycle. We got the opportunity to test ride the newly launched Firefox Aeron 700C road bicycle and here is what we thought.
Weight: 11.8 kgs
Usage: Fitness/Long Distance
The Firefox Aeron 700C is a Road Bicycle built on a full Alloy frame. For an entry-level Road Bicycle the build quality is excellent and that is evident in the 11.8kgs weight of this bicycle. The geometry is endurance/comfort-focused which enables the beginner road cyclist to ride the Aeron 700C without any stress to the back or shoulders. The rigid fork on this bicycle is flattened and makes the front of the bicycle weigh less and also handles the vibrations of the surface comfortably.
The Aeron 700C that I test rode came in a Black primary colour with Blue and Orange as the secondary colours. The welded tube edges are smooth and aesthetic. The matte finish paint job made sure the finishing was premium in quality and enhanced the Blue/Orange colour scheme. The colour coded fork and saddle match the colour combination on the frame.
Shimano’s Claris derailleurs handle the gears at the front and rear on the Firefox Aeron 700C. Claris is an entry-level component on Shimano’s road groupset hierarchy. During the test ride this 2x8, 16-Speed Claris derailleurs were light and sleek with smooth gear shifting. To complete the drivetrain, Shimano’s Claris paddle shifters are installed on this Road Bicycle.
The stopping power on this road bicycle is taken care of by Tektro’s Dual Pivot Caliper brakes at the front and rear. These brakes are powerful and had enough stopping power on both dry and wet tarmac.
The Zoom Alloy 420mm drop handlebar was perfect in length to make sure the shoulders are wide enough for comfortable steering. The bar tape is comfortable with ample cushioning.
The Wanda P1035 700x25C tires kept the Firefox Aeron rolling fast on the tarmac. These tires had strong compounds with neat treading which made sure there was enough traction.
The Stock Firefox Saddle was designed specifically for endurance rides which made sure the rider is comfortable for long hours on the saddle.
This Road Bicycle is designed for beginners and amateurs and hence has a comfortable riding geometry. It is built for providing a smooth riding experience for long endurance and fitness rides. The Tektro dual pivot Caliper brakes were powerful and balanced. Priced at Rs.34,000(as on 15th November 2019), the Firefox Aeron 700C Road Bicycle is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy their first Road Bicycle.
