Firefox is one of India’s leading Bicycle brands with bicycle models for all types of riders and surfaces. From kids bicycles to performance focused bicycles they have it all. We got the opportunity to test ride the Firefox Spirit and here is what we thought.
Weight: 15 kgs
Usage: Commute/Fitness
The Firefox Spirit is built on a strong Steel frame which is robust and has a comfort focused geometry. The neatly welded tubes can take in enough vibration off the surface and makes the riding experience better. The steel rigid fork was strong enough to handle hard bumps on the road.
The Bicycle which I test rode came with Gloss Black as the primary colour on the frame with Light Blue and Red graphics. The gloss finish paint job was was neat and the smoothly welded edges made the frame look sleek. The colour coded design on the fork was a nice aesthetic touch.
Firefox have used Microshift components on this recently released Hybrid Bicycle. Microshift as a brand is on par with Shimano in terms of performance and quality. The Spirit comes equipped with a 7-Speed Microshift Mezzo RD-M21 at the rear along with a Microshift Mezzo FD-M22 3-Speed at the front. The Microshift drivetrain on this Bicycle was both quick and smooth in shifting with no lag experienced during the test ride. The 21-Speed gearing system is controlled by Microshift’s TS38 trigger shifters.
The Firefox Spirit’s stopping power is taken care of by a pair of Power V-brakes. These brakes were the conventional braking system with reasonably long brake pads which help the Bicycle come to a halt in a safe and balanced manner. During the test ride these brakes did help come to quick halts and to maneuver through traffic.
The Steel 660mm handlebar was wide and gave an open chested riding position for the rider. The Quill Alloy stem makes the handlebar angle adjustable according to the rider’s preference.
Being a Commuter Hybrid Bicycle the Spirit rolls on a pair of 700x35C tires. These tires were slick and fast which was perfect for riding in the City. The tires were treaded well to keep the Bicycle balanced on both wet and dry conditions. The stock saddle from Firefox was standard in shape with an ideal length and width. This saddle had a lot of cushioning and made the ride sore free.
This Hybrid Bicycle is built on a strong frame which was comfortable to ride. The 21-Speed Microshift drivetrain was easy to pedal and also easy to maintain. The gloss finish paint job and design was simple and neat and gave a premium look. Priced at Rs.18,900 (as on 23rd June 2021) the Firefox Spirit is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a Bicycle for City Commuting and Fitness rides.
