Frog is an Indian bicycle brand. Their range includes MTB, Hybrid and City bicycles for Men, Women and Children. This fairly new entrant to the Indian bicycle market has come out with an extensive range with numerous designs and colours. We got the opportunity to test ride the Frog Chelsea 27.5” and here is what we thought.

An aesthetic and comfortable to ride hardtail MTB for leisure trail rides and occasional urban commutes.
The Frog Chelsea 27.5” is built around a hardtail Alloy frame. The Alloy frame has a conventional frame geometry, which was comfortable to ride. This frame was capable of taking in vibrations of the surface on rough trails and urban roads. This lightweight Alloy frame made it easier to accelerate and to ride on inclines.
This hardtail MTB comes with Zoom 389 front suspension fork with an impressive 80mm travel. This travel was smooth in working during the test ride and the mechanical suspension lockout feature was helpful in making the fork rigid for a smoother riding experience on flat surfaces.
This bicycle is built on a lightweight hardtail Alloy frame and comes in a standard 18.5” frame size
The Chelsea 27.5” from Frog, which I test rode came with Black as the primary colour with Blue and White as the secondary colours for the graphics and text. The matte finish paint job was top notch in quality. The Blue brake and gear cables were a nice touch to make them colour coordinated. The Blue/Black saddle with bold text and the England flag is definitely eye catching. Chelsea is a popular football club in London. With the same colour scheme of Chelsea F.C, this bicycle’s design is sure to be popular amongst football and Chelsea fans.

The Frog Chelsea 27.5” comes equipped with Shimano Tourney TY500 at the front and rear as derailleurs. These are entry-level gearing components in Shimano’s MTB hierarchy and they performed to their limits during the test ride. On rough urban roads and flat trails, these derailleurs were ideal for quick and short gear changes. The Shimano EZFire 21-Speed Shimano trigger shifters were easy to use and in easy reach from the handlebar grips.

This MTB’s stopping power is handled by a pair of Zoom Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear. These brakes were powerful, safe and balanced on rough and smooth roads. Both interval and jamming of brakes felt in control when used during the test ride.
The Alloy handlebar on this bicycle was both comfortable and wide enough with a raise from the middle to give the rider an open chested riding posture.

The 27.5” x 2.20” MTB tires on the Frog Chelsea 27.5” were heavily treaded to generate a lot of traction on rough surfaces. The 27.5” circumference made it easy to ride over rough trails and urban roads. The stock saddle was wide and had enough cushioning to keep the rider comfortable on bumpy rides.

This hardtail MTB is built on a lightweight Alloy frame with a comfortable riding posture. The Zoom front suspension fork absorbs vibrations of the surface and the suspension lockout helps ride faster on flat surfaces. The Zoom Mechanical Disc brakes were powerful and responsive. The Chelsea F.C themed colours and graphics were aesthetic with a matte finish paint job. Priced at Rs.18,599(as on 19th August 2019), the Frog Chelsea 27.5” is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a bicycle for leisure trail rides and urban fitness rides.
