Frog is an Indian Bicycle brand which has a wide range of Hybrid, MTB and City Bicycles for Men, Women, Teenagers and Children. This fairly new entrant to the Indian Market believes in honesty, functionality and simplicity. Frog Bicycles recently launched a few new models, we got the opportunity to test ride their new Urban MTB; the Frog GraniteX 40 27.5 and here is what we thought.

A single-speed all-rounder urban MTB which can tackle the roughest of urban roads and even flat trails.
The Frog Granite X40 27.5 has been built using a TIG welded Steel frame. While Steel is known to be on the heavier side, the design of this Bicycle and the welding on the frame contributes towards reducing the overall weight of this Bicycle. The geometry of the frame ensures a comfortable, upright riding position.
This Bicycle comes equipped with a suspension fork at the front with a claimed 80mm travel which will help tackle rough roads.

The Frog Granite X40 27.5 has been designed with simple yet bright and elegant graphics. The welding on the edges of the frame looked simple and neat. The bicycle we test road had a primary colour of Silver with Red graphics. The colour-coded saddle and fork match the decals which added to the overall aesthetic appeal of the Bicycle.

The Frog Plus Granite X40 27.5 is a simple Single-Speed Bicycle. The Bicycle is ideal for city commuting and leisure riding. The bicycle would require extra effort while using it on elevated areas in the city, like on flyovers or in cities with variable terrains. In today’s world of technological advancements, simple Single-Speed bicycles are losing their base and the re-introduction of many such Single-Speed bicycles from manufacturers is reviving their popularity and is also easy to ride and maintain.

The Frog Plus Granite X40 27.5 comes equipped with Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear that offer adequate stopping power on both smooth and rough roads. The brakes were powerful and strong while tested. The brake cables are colour coded with the overall colour scheme of the bicycle.
The handlebar on the Frog Plus Granite X40 27.5 is wide enough to ensure a comfortable upright riding position. The width of the handlebar allows for superior control and maneuverability in crowded riding conditions. The handlebar grips felt slightly hard during the test ride.

The Frog Plus Granite X40 27.5 comes equipped with 27.5” x 2.2” tires attached to double wall Alloy rims. The treading on the tires allowed for a good grip and added traction while on the road, making this bicycle ideal for regular city usage on both wet and dry conditions. The 27.5” circumference made it easier to ride over the roughest of roads.
This Bicycle comes equipped with a comfortable Saddle that is wide enough to accommodate one’s sit bones. Additionally, the seat post has a quick release option, making adjusting the height of the saddle easier on the go.

This Bicycle has a comfortable riding posture and a robust frame which can handle rough surfaces. The Single-Speed drivetrain made it easy to ride and maintain. The 27.5” MTB tires were heavily treaded and fast rolling, thus making them perfect for the roughest of urban roads and even flat trails. Priced at Rs.11,799 (as on 15th October 2020) the Frog Granite X40 27.5 is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a Bicycle to ride on both smooth and rough urban roads.
