Fuji Bicycles was established in Japan in 1899. Fuji Bicycles aim to create the best bicycles using high quality materials and Components. Fuji Bicycles has a wide range of Road, Hybrid and MTB Bicycles for the Indian Market. The 2018 range of bicycles has hit the market, and we got the opportunity to test the Fuji Absolute 1.3 and here are our thoughts.
The Fuji Absolute 1.3 has been made using a Fuji A2-SL butted alloy frame. The frame is lightweight, sturdy and durable. The frame has been designed ergonomically, with a slightly downward sloping top tube, enabling easier mounting and dismounting. The frame comes with built-in options for front and rear rack mounts, making this bicycle perfect for long distance touring, as well. The frame is available in three sizes - 17”, 19” and 21”.
This bicycle comes with a rigid carbon fork. A carbon fork keeps the bicycle lightweight while ensuring durability and stability.
The Fuji Absolute 1.3 has been designed keeping simplicity as the main idea, when it comes to the designing of this bicycle. The bicycle is available in a single color - Red. The branding is minimal displaying only the Brand name and the Model name using bold white lettering. Furthermore, this bicycle has internal cabling which adds to the overall neat and pleasing aesthetics. Since red may not be universally popular, it would be nice to have a couple more colour options available.
The Fuji Absolute 1.3 is a 27-Speed hybrid bicycle that comes equipped with Shimano Sora components. The shifting is controlled by Shimano Sora RapidFire shifters. While on the test ride, I found the shifting to be quick and responsive. The transmission while shifting was immediate, and the shifting was precise. The placement of the thumb shifters made reaching the shifters easy, even for someone with small hands.
The Fuji Absolute 1.3 comes equipped with Tektro Auriga Hydraulic Disc Brakes with a 160mm rotor in the front and 140mm rotor at the rear. The braking was found to be precise and effective when tested out on wet and dry surfaces. The stoppage power is adequate and responsive enough to bring the bicycle to a complete halt when required. The Tektro Auriga 2-finger brake levers were well placed, and required a light press to engage the braking mechanism.
This bicycle comes equipped with an Oval Concepts flat handlebar made using alloy. The width of the handlebar enables an open-chested riding position, and ensures superior control, stability and maneuverability.
The Fuji Absolute 1.3 comes equipped with Vittoria Zaffiro 700x28C tires. The tires are fast rolling and the lightly treaded tires enabled superior gripping, around corners and on wet and slippery surfaces.
This bicycle comes equipped with a Selle Royal Shadow saddle which I found to be well cushioned, and comfortable even on long distance rides.
