Giant is one of the World’s largest manufacturers of bicycles. Giant has a whole fleet of bicycles for all age groups, terrains and levels of riding. From leisure rides to professional racing there is a bicycle in Giant’s stable for every purpose. We got the opportunity to test ride the Giant Escape 1 (2019) and here is what we thought.
Weight: 11.7kgs
Usage: Fitness/Commute
The tough and lightweight ALUXX-Grade Aluminium frame on the Escape 1 is built to be lightweight. The tubes are butted which means that excess material is removed from low stress areas of the frame, reducing the weight without affecting durability or ride quality. The frame tubes are shaped to offer a riding experience that remains stiff and smooth.
The ALUXX Alloy fork on this bicycle gives you confident steering control. This composite fork on the Escape 1 is strong and can handle hard bumps on urban roads.
The Escape 1 which I test rode came in a full Silver colour frame with Mild Orange graphics. The matte finish paint job quality was top notch. The thin seatstays and chainstays made the bicycle look sleek. The graphics and design were simple yet elegant.
The Giant Escape 1 features a Shimano Altus in the front and Shimano Alivio at the rear as the drivetrain. The mid to performance level derailleur combination helped in smooth and quick gear shifting. The 3x9-Speed Shimano Altus trigger shifters were sleek in design and were easy to shift.
The Escape 1 from Giant is equipped with V-Brakes at the front and rear. The Tektro T837 V-Brakes were powerful and also balanced. These brakes were good enough for wet and dry urban roads.
The Giant Connect Sport handlebar was wide and made sure the rider has an ‘open-chested’ riding posture. The raise is a gradual curve which makes it look good as well.
The 700C wheels on the Escape 1 offers a road bicycle rolling speed and efficiency. All models in the range feature Double Wall Aluminium Alloy rims so they are strong enough to take on hard bumps on the road. The stock Giant Crosscut 700x32C tires are ideal for dry/wet roads and also has puncture protection.
The Giant Contact Comfort Saddle is ergonomically designed and had a lot of cushioning to keep the rider sore free.
This Hybrid Bicycle is lightweight thanks to its Alloy frame and helps ride efficiently. The riding posture is comfortable, and the Tektro V-brakes are quick to react and are powerful. With elegant graphics and a matte finish paint job this bicycle is premium not only in performance but in looks as well. Priced at Rs.55,999 (as on 10th December 2019) the Giant Escape 1 (2019) is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a bicycle for commuting and fitness purposes.
