As a cyclist and a bicycle reviewer with growing knowledge, I focus on learning the technical aspects of bicycles while sharing honest, practical insights based on real-world riding experiences. My aim is to provide clear and relatable reviews for riders at all levels.
The frame is made of steel and quite heavy
Non-adjustable simple and soft suspension
Entry level gearing with wide gearing ratio
Brakes are from Super Shocks having 160mm rotor.
The tyre was soft and had good grip on road and off road also available in 26 and 27.5 inches.
Blunt is an entry-level bicycle from Hero Cycles. This is a good first bike for young adults to get into cycling. The design of the bike is made to give a comfortable ride. It gets mechanical disc brakes on front and back and suspension only at the front.
Weight: 18 kgs
Usage:Leisure/Short Commuting
The Hero Blunt’s frame is made of steel, which makes the bike little heavy to pick and move around. It is designed in a way to not look heavy. Weight of the bike keeps it stable during a ride. There is a single bottle holder mount on bottom tube and a specific mount for your side stand. The bike has a relaxed seating position. The frame seems to be smaller for the wheel size for 29inchs. Which makes it difficult for you to add a carrier or a mudguard. That’s why there are no mounts for carrier rack or mudguard embedded on the frame. It will be able to handle bad city roads because of the front suspension and high volume 29inch tyres. This bike could have gotten a lock type suspension with adjustment, which would have made the ride even better. Only downside to comfort here was the grips. Grips were hard plastic, and it does not have a uniform pattern, sweaty hands will find it difficult to ride after some time. Grip change might be necessary.
Hero Blunt comes in very attractive colour pattern of teal blue fading into lemon yellow. A bold decal of HERO SPRINT on bottom tube and GEMTech on the seat tube is seen. The bike has a very good stance and looks stylish. The taper down top-tube is suitable for young adults to easily get on a off the bike. The 29-inch wheels on this fame gives a SUV kind of feel for the cycle. It also comes with 26 and 27.5-inch wheel set, which makes it adaptable option for various height groups. Its good to see internal cable routing on a bike at this price point, this gives the bike a clean look.
Blunt gets a 3x7 gear ratio. The crank set is made inhouse at Hero cycles, it is made of steel and the crank arm is over moulded with plastic which improves the aesthetics. The front and rear derailleur are from Shimano and are Tourney series which are entry level. The shifter is basic thumb and click shifters which work well. The gear ratio provided here is sufficient for day to day use and even slight off-roading.
The Hero Blunt comes with mechanical disc brakes with 160mm rotor size and callipers are from Super Shox. The brake had good bite when both were used together. Just the rear brake was not sufficient to bring the bike to a halt but while using the front brakes the bike dives forward and the suspension travels at least halfway, making it a little getting use to. This is where the wide handlebar comes in handy to keep yourself anchored. The bike handles really well, and it was very easy to tackle the traffic
The bike gets steel rims with disc brake hubs all in black and stickered. The tyres where 29x2.4 inches and had good grip on and off the road. There was rolling resistance the bike felt slow even when heavily pushed. But it makes up for this on comfort. The saddle feels like a soft cushion, it’s very comfortable.
The bike is priced at ₹15,610. It is a very good starter bike for young adults. The seat and high-volume tyre’s comfort, makes it suitable for commutes and leisure riding. The popping colour gives it a nice and attractive look.
