The rigid fork on this E-Bicycle is bladed in design to be aerodynamic and to absorb some amount of vibration of the surface.
The 1x7-Speed drivetrain was useful to the rider by controlling the cadence according to the speed at which the pedal assist is pushing the E-Bicycle forward.
The disc brakes were powerful enough to get the E-Bicycle to a stop safely and quickly even at 20-25 Km/hr.
The 27.5” x 2.0” were fast rolling on smooth and rough urban roads and were perfectly suited for an Electric Bicycle when riding at 25km/hr.

Hero Lectro is a brand under the Hero Cycles banner which specializes in Electric Pedal Assisted Bicycles. The aim of Hero Lectro is to redefine your everyday commute. Electric Pedal Assisted Bicycles use rechargeable batteries which can be charged using a power plug. These Electric Bicycles come in varied designs, and are meant for all age groups. We got the opportunity to test ride the Hero Lectro C7 and here is what we thought.
Weight: 18 kgs (Including battery)
Category: Commuting/Leisure
The Hero Lectro C7 is built on a full Alloy frame. Electric Cycles are heavier due to the inclusion of the battery and motor and hence using an Alloy frame keeps the weight in check. The riding posture was the perfect combination of aggressiveness and comfort with a very slight bend forward to reach the handlebar. The rigid fork on this E-Bicycle is bladed in design to be aerodynamic and to absorb some amount of vibration of the surface.
The Hero Lectro C7 which I test rode came in a full Blue primary colour on the frame with Green as the secondary colour for the graphics. The rigid fork is Blue in colour which was aerodynamic in design and also uniform in design with the frame colour. The matte finish paint job was of great quality with a smooth finish to it. The concealed battery inside the bottom tube made it look any normal bicycle and hence making the frame look neat and also protecting the battery from external dust.
This Hero Lectro Electric Bicycle comes with a Shimano Tourney 7-Speed rear derailleur and no front derailleur. This 1x7-Speed drivetrain was useful to the rider by controlling the cadence according to the speed at which the pedal assist is pushing the E-Bicycle forward. Also if you run out of battery power during your ride, this 7-Speed gear system will help you ride efficiently without having to fully pull the weight of this E-Bicycle. The Shimano SIS 7-Speed shifters are old school but they do the job well.
The Hero Lectro C7 Electric Bicycle runs on a rear hub BLDC 36V, 250W rear hub motor. This motor is powered by a 36 Volt, 6.4Ah Lithium-Ion battery. The throttle on the right grip was easy to use and also brought out the fun factor on this E-Bicycle. The 3 level pedal assist termed low, medium and high gives three different levels of power assist from the battery for each pedal. There is also a walk mode which helps get a constant speed for easy walking with the E-Bicycle. The LED button display on the left side of the handlebar bar has the On/Off button, assist level changer, walk mode button and also the battery level indicator. This display controller comes with a thick silicon semi-transparent cover which protects it from rain/water damage. The maximum speed using battery power is 25km/hr. As a safety feature there is a button next to the right hand side gip accelerator which can be used to switch on and switch off the accelerator function. The acceleration when using the throttle and pedal assist were both not the quickest but smooth in getting up to speed thus making it safe to ride.
With 1 full charge this battery is capable of giving 30-33Kms in Pedal Assist mode and 25-27Kms in Throttle mode. These mileages may differ with the varied riding conditions and rider weight. This battery takes around 4 hours to charge from 0 to 100% with any normal Indian plug point. The charging point for the battery is on the left side of the frame above the bottom bracket. The small downside to this charging method is that the bicycle has to be near a charging point as the battery is not detachable.
The Hero Lectro C7’s stopping power is controlled by a pair of JAK’s Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear. The disc brakes were powerful enough to get the E-Bicycle to a stop safely and quickly even at 20-25 Km/hr. During the test the ride these brakes reacted fast enough during fast cornering even on wet roads.
The 680mm Alloy riser handlebar on this E-bicycle was of the perfect length to give a comfortable riding posture for the rider. The grip throttle on the right was smooth and easy to use.
The 27.5” x 2.0” Spur branded tires on the Hero Lectro C7 provided sufficient traction on rough urban roads and was perfectly suited for an Electric Bicycle when riding at 25km/hr. The treads were also thick enough to protect the tires from smaller punctures.
The saddle has seen a considerable upgrade on these newly released models this year, with an extra layer of padded cushion which makes it as good as having an external gel/foam seat cover.
The Alloy frame is lightweight and comfortable to ride. The concealed battery is neat and along with the premium paint job makes the E-Bicycle look aesthetic. The 3 level assist along with a throttle and the extra cushioned saddle made the electric riding experience comfortable and enjoyable. The 27.5” x 2.0” Spur tires were fast rolling with great traction on smooth and rough urban roads. Priced at Rs.30,999(as on 13th August 2021) the Hero Lectro C7 is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy an Electric Bicycle for leisure rides and commutes.
