The frame geometry was an ideal combination of comfort and aggressiveness which is suitable for trails and rough urban roads.
The suspension fork on the Doran are Alloy coil springs with a smooth travel of around 75mm easily.
The Shimano TY/TZ derailleurs with 21-Speed shifters were smooth in shifting during the test ride.
The Repute branded Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear were balanced on trails and rough urban roads.
The 29” x 2.10” DSI MTB tires were fast rolling and heavily treaded which provided great traction on rough surfaces.
Hero Cycles are one of the biggest and most successful bicycle brands in India. Hero has been around for more than 60 years now and has various categories of bicycles with a few sub-brands under them. The sub-brands being Hero Sprint, Hero Sprint Pro and Hero Octane. We got the opportunity to test ride the Hero Sprint Pro Doran 29T and here is what we thought.
Weight: 16.3 kgs
Category: Leisure
The Hero Sprint Pro Doran 29T is built on a strong hardtail Alloy frame. MTB’s are generally heavy and the Doran’s lightweight Alloy frame helps keep the weight in check, which makes it easy to ride on inclines whilst still having the strength to handle hard bumps. The frame geometry was an ideal combination of comfort and aggressiveness which is suitable for trails and rough urban roads.
The suspension fork on the Doran are Alloy coil springs with a smooth travel of around 75mm easily. The lockout feature on this suspension fork is an exciting feature and helps make the fork rigid which in turn makes the ride efficient on flatter surfaces.
The Doran 29T that I test rode came in a full Black frame with Green and Yellow as secondary colours. The matte finish paint job was smooth and enhanced the colours. The graphics in Yellow on the top tube was neatly done and was unique as well. The colour coded stem, rims, saddle and handlebar were aesthetic.
The Doran 29T comes equipped with Shimano Tourney TY300 in the front and Shimano Tourney TZ50 at the rear as derailleurs. Both these derailleur are the latest edition of Tourney’s from Shimano and the gear shifting was smooth and I experienced no lags during the test ride. The Shimano EF-500 21-Speed shifters felt easy to use with a quick and responsive spring action.
The Repute branded Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear were sufficient for precise and safe braking performance on moderate trails and urban roads. During the test ride, when braking on fast turns and in traffic, it felt balanced and had a quick response time.
The 680mm Alloy handlebar was wide and gave an open chested riding posture while still being comfortable. The grips were comfortable on the palms.
The Hero Sprint Pro Doran 29T rolls on a pair of 29” x 2.10” DSI MTB tires along with double walled Alloy rims. The treading was bulky and evenly spaced out, giving superior traction on smooth and rough urban roads. The 29” wheel size ensured easy rolling over rough patches.
The stock Sport MTB Saddle was aesthetic in design with the perfect length and width to keep the rider comfortable and stable.
This MTB has a lightweight Alloy frame which is a positive on a bicycle at this price. The lightweight frame makes it easier to pedal and accelerate. The lockout feature on the front suspension fork is an exciting feature for riding efficiently on flat roads. Priced at Rs.17,050(as on 29th May 2019) the Hero Sprint Pro Doran 29T is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy an MTB for both moderate trail rides and urban roads.
