The Single-Speed drivetrain was easy to pedal and is cost effective in maintenance.

Hero’s Sprint Pro series have had their strength in the urban MTB segment. The good mix of performance, comfort and design, all at an affordable price range has made these bicycles a big hit. 29er MTBs are the top most in performance in MTBs and one such bicycle is the Sprint Pro Offspring 29 V. We got the opportunity to test ride this bicycle and here is what we thought.
Weight: 18.7 kgs
Usage: Leisure
The hardtail Steel frame on the Offspring 29 V comes with a slanting top tube and a rounded bottom tube. The taller tube profile makes the rider position comfortable. The chunky bottom tube can take in quite a bit of vibration from the surface. The bottom bracket is at a higher point from the ground which gives extra clearance from bumpy surfaces. The threadless front suspension fork comes with a claimed 90mm travel but worked up to 70mm smoothly during the test ride.
The bicycle which I test rode came in a full Neon Yellow frame with Black and Blue graphics. The matte finish paint job quality was top notch. which makes the frame look smooth and shiny. This frame’s tubes are designed in a way to look sleek and this enhances the aesthetics of the frame. The full pitch Black suspension fork goes well with the bright Neon Yellow frame. The quick release on the front wheel and the seat post and the bottle cage mount are very useful design features for the rider.
The Offspring 29 V comes with a single-speed drivetrain. The 18 teeth freewheel along with a 38 teeth crankset were perfect in size to pedal fast and with minimal effort on urban roads. Riding on inclines and flyovers did need the extra effort, but the 29er wheel size helped roll over rough surfaces with ease.
The Offspring is equipped with Sparkle branded V-brakes at the front and rear. These brakes with long brake arms and wide brake pads were sufficient for braking on smooth and rough urban roads.
The 680mm handlebar was lengthy giving the rider full control of the bicycle and the 7mm raise makes the riders posture comfortable.
The Offspring 29 V as the name suggests rolls on a pair of DSI 29” x 2.1” tires. These tires with the heavy rubber treading gives better traction on any surface and also faster rolling speeds on smooth and rough roads. The double walled alloy rims significantly contribute towards keeping the wheelset stronger and in turn making the wheels withstand a lot of hard hitting. The stock sleek MTB saddle was the perfect mix of ergonomics and cushioning, making it comfortable for rough rides.
