This Steel frame was strong and had a simple geometry for a comfortable riding posture.
This was sufficient for riding on urban roads and slightly patchy surfaces.
The Single-Speed drivetrain was smooth to pedal and easy to maintain.
These V-Brakes were effective and quick in stoppages on rough urban roads.
The 26” x 2.1” DSI MTB tires were fast rolling and heavily treaded which provided great traction on urban roads.
Hero Cycles are one of the biggest and most successful bicycle brands in India. Hero has been around for more than 60 years now and has various categories of bicycles with a few sub-brands under them. The sub-brands being Hero Sprint, Hero Sprint Pro and Hero Octane. We got the opportunity to test ride the Hero Sprint Siren 26T SS and here is what we thought.
Weight: 18 kgs
Category: Leisure/Commuting
The Hero Sprint Pro Siren 26T SS is built on a strong hardtail Steel frame. The frame geometry is comfortable with a higher standover clearance and also has a higher ground clearance to roll over obstacles on roads comfortably. The tubes are sleek and have enough material at critical points to take in the hard hitting from the surface.
The suspension fork on the Siren was a basic threadless coil spring with a claimed travel of 80mm, but worked comfortable up to 65-70mm during the test ride. This was sufficient for riding on urban roads and slightly patchy surfaces.
The bicycle which I test rode came in a full Black frame with Green as the secondary colour with neat and stylish graphics. The sleek tubes design made the bicycle look stylish. The matte finish paint job was of good quality. The Green brake cables were of good contrast and enhanced the aesthetics of this bicycle.
The Siren 26T SS is a Single-Speed bicycle. This simple drivetrain is easy to maintain and also pedals smoothly on city roads with minimal elevations. The 38T Steel crankset along with 18 teeth freewheel made sure the pedaling motion and acceleration was easy even from a stand still point. The pedals were wide and had a good grip pattern.
The Sparkle branded V-Brakes handle the braking on the Siren 26T SS. These brakes were powerful enough to bring the bicycle to a sudden halt and also felt balanced during the test ride on rough urban roads.
The 660mm Alloy handlebar was wide and gave an open chested riding posture and the 7mm raise from the middle made it comfortable.
The Hero Sprint Pro Siren 26T SS rolls on a pair of DSI 26” x 2.10” MTB tires along with 36H double walled Alloy rims. The treading was bulky and evenly spaced out, giving superior traction on smooth and rough urban roads. The stock MTB Saddle was sporty in design with a sleek design to keep the rider comfortable without any soreness.
