The frame is responsive and can handle a lot of hard hitting from the surface on urban roads.
Was just sufficient to make your ride comfortable when riding over potholes and speed breakers on urban roads.
The Single-Speed drivetrain was easy to pedal and is cost effective in maintenance.
Well balanced and felt safe to use on wet and dry urban roads.
The 26” x 2.1” MTB tires with bulky treads could handle rough patches on urban roads with ease.
Hero Cycles are one of the Country’s top bicycle brands with a long legacy of being the front runners in bicycle manufacturing in India. The Sprint Pro series are a line of Urban MTBs with strong frames and flashy designs for teenagers and adults. We got the opportunity to test ride the Hero Sprint Pro Spectral 26T and here is what we thought.
Weight: 18.3 kgs
Usage: Leisure/Commuting
The Spectral 26T is built on a strong Steel frame with a simple geometry for a comfortable riding posture. Even though the material is heavy, this is only felt on inclines. The frame is responsive and can handle a lot of hard hitting from the surface on urban roads.
The threadless suspension forks on this hardtail Urban MTB has a minimal working suspension of 65-70mm against the claimed 80mm, which was just sufficient to make your ride comfortable when riding over potholes and speed breakers on urban roads.
The bicycle which I test rode came in a Black colour with Orange, White and Blue graphics. The matte finish paint job was top notch in quality. The colour coded cables, saddle, rims and handlebar all enhanced the overall aesthetics of the bicycle.
The Spectral 26T comes with a Single-Speed drivetrain. The 18 teeth freewheel along with a 44 teeth crankset were perfect in size to pedal fast and with minimal effort on urban roads. Riding on inclines and flyovers did feel the need for extra pressure but it was comfortable for commutes.
The ‘Repute’ branded Mechanical Disc brakes were a good addition to this 26T Urban MTB meant for teenage and adult riders. These brakes performed well during the test ride on urban roads making it safe for school commutes and leisure rides in the neighborhood.
The Steel 660mm handlebar was comfortable and lengthy to provide an open chested riding posture.
The 26” x 2.1” MTB tires along with double walled Alloy rims made for a strong set of wheels for this urban MTB. These tires could handle rough tarmac surfaces well thanks to the bulky and evenly spread out treads. The stock comfort PU Saddle on the Spectral 26T was not the most ergonomic in design but has enough cushioning to keep the rider sore free.
