The strength of the Steel makes sure the bicycle can withstand a lot of hard hitting of the surface on rough urban roads.
The rigid Steel fork was thin and could take in the vibrations from the bumps and speed breakers.
The 7-Speed rear derailleur was enough for city commutes and leisure rides.
These V-brakes were effective and quick in stoppages on both dry and wet city roads.
The 700C tires were sleek and fast rolling making it perfect for urban roads.
Hero’s Sprint series are a wide range of bicycles for teenagers and adults. This series of bicycles are all built for comfortable riding on both rough and smooth roads and also flat trails. We got the opportunity to test ride the Hero Sprint Traveller 700C 7 Speed and here is what we thought.
Weight: 18.2 kgs
Usage: Commute/Leisure
The Hero Sprint Traveller 700C 7 Speed is built on a full rigid Steel frame. The slightly slanting top tube and simple geometry made sure the rider has a comfortable riding posture. The Steel frame does feel a bit heavy when climbing on flyovers but the gears compensate for that by making it easy to pedal. The strength of the Steel makes sure the bicycle can withstand a lot of hard hitting of the surface on rough urban roads. This hybrid bicycle which I test rode came in a full Black frame with Blue and Green as the secondary colours for the graphics and text. The matte finish paint job was of great quality which is a positive for a bicycle at this price. The colour coded handelebar grips and rims along with thin tube profiling made the bicycle look aesthetic.
As in the name of this bicycle, this Traveller 700C comes with a 1x7-Speed drivetrain. The Shimano Tourney 7-Speed rear derailleur is the most basic gear you can find and it performed to its expectations during the test ride. The 7-Speed rear derailleur was enough for city commutes and leisure rides. Grip shifters are commonly used on 7-Speed bicycles but the Shimano Easy Fire trigger shifters were a good addition and made the shifting experience easy.
The Sprandum branded V-brakes handle the braking on the Traveller 7 Speed. These brakes were powerful enough to bring the bicycle to a sudden halt and also felt balanced during the test ride on slightly rough urban roads.
The Steel 620mm handlebar comes with a raise in the middle which made the posture comfortable and the padded palm grips decreased the vibration transfers to the hand from the surface.
The Hero Sprint Traveller 7 Speed rolls on a pair of Ralson 700c hybrid sleek tires. These tires definitely contributed towards the easy acceleration of this bicycle. The tires provided enough traction for safe rides during fast turns and braking on slightly muddy roads. The PU saddle wasn’t the most ergonomic in design but had enough cushioning to keep the rider comfortable.
