Java is an International Bicycle brand with a wide range of MTB’s, Hybrids and Road Bicycles. This brand forayed into India a few years back and has had a consistent release of new bicycle models every year. Java is known for its stylish design and value for money components on its Bicycles. We got the opportunity to test ride the Java Paso 27.5 and here is what we thought.
Weight: 14.9 kgs
Usage: Fitness/Trail
The Java Paso 27.5 is built on a lightweight full Alloy frame. The geometry is comfort focused and this is needed for fast and controlled rides on trails. This frame has an almost straight top tube, smoothly welded frame and short thin rear triangle for increased stability. The Deca front suspension fork come with 100mm travel which helped make the ride comfortable when rolling over bumpy surfaces.
Java’s designs are simple yet futuristic with smooth welding of the tubes. The Bicycle I test rode came in a Red gloss finish frame with Black as the secondary colour for text and graphics. The black rims and seat were a good contrast to the bright gloss Red frame colour.
The Paso 27.5 gets a 3x7-Speed Shimano Tourney drivetrain, with three gears in front and seven in the back, giving you the capabilities to climb steep inclines and go fast on urban roads. This 21-Speed gear system is controlled by Shimano's trigger shifters. During the test ride the gears felt smooth to shift with no lag.
The Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear on the Java Paso 27.5 were powerful and ideal for safe and quick stoppages on both trails and rough/wet urban roads. The brake levers were in close reach from the handlebar grip and easy to engage.
The Deca Alloy handlebar was lengthy with a slight raise from the middle. This gave the rider total control over the bicycle during fast turns.
As in the name of the Bicycle the Java Paso rolls on a pair of 27.5” x 2.0” MTB tires. These tires were the perfect blend of grip and speed. The heavy and uniform tread pattern made it easier to roll on hard surfaces and the 27.5” circumference and alloy rims made it faster.
The Deca Saddle was both ergonomic in design and had ample cushioning to keep the rider comfortable on the bumpiest of rides.
This Hardtail MTB is built on an Alloy frame and has a comfortable riding posture. The front suspension fork made the ride easier on bumpy surfaces. The 21-Speed gears and Mechanical Disc brakes made it possible to ride long distances and on muddy and wet surfaces. Priced at Rs.29,900(as on 23rd January 2021) the Java Paso 27.5 is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy an MTB for both trails and urban rides.
