Category: Commuting/Leisure
The Lectro Lady Glide has been made using a 6061 Alloy frame that offers stability and durability. The frame has been designed specifically for women, and has a low step through frame. The geometry of this bicycle ensures a comfortable, upright riding position. The frame has an integrated, Li-ion battery mounted on it. This bicycle has a rigid fork that is bladed, making it aerodynamic and capable of absorbing shocks felt from urban roads. This bicycle is available in a single standard frame size of 17”, making it well suited for most women.
The Lectro Lady Glide that we test rode came in a primary colour of bright Blue with vibrant Pink and Orange decals and bold White branding. Though this bicycle is colourful and vibrant, the colours aren’t overwhelming. This bicycle is available in two colour options - Bright Blue/Pink and Violet. The paint job appeared top-notch and neat, with a smooth finish. The concealed battery inside the bottom tube adds to the overall pleasing aesthetics of this bicycle.
The Lectro Lady Glide has a Shimano Tourney 7-Speed rear derailleur whose shifting is controlled by a Shimano Tourney RH EF SL-TX50 shifter. The shifting is comfortable, smooth and efficient. A simple 7-Speed drivetrain helps keep the cadence in tune with the speed generated by the battery. Additionally, should the battery run out of power on a ride, a 7-Speed drivetrain will be beneficial to complete the ride without exerting too much additional energy.
The Lectro Lady Glide runs on a rear hub Shungfung motor. This motor is powered by a 36 Volt, 5.8 AH Lithium Ion battery. The throttle on the right grip was easy to use, while enhancing the ‘fun factor’ on this E-bicycle. The 3-level pedal assist - Low, Medium and High gives three different levels of power assist from the battery for each pedal. Additionally, a walk mode enables a constant speed delivery, for easy walking with the bicycle alongside. The LED button display on the left side of the handlebar bar has an On/Off button, Assist Level changer, Walk mode button and the Battery Level indicator. The maximum speed possible while using battery power is 25kmph.
A single charge of this battery enables 30 kilometers in Pedal Assist mode and 22-25 kilometers in throttle mode. These mileages are an estimate, and may differ slightly with varied riding conditions. The battery takes 4 hours to charge from 0 to 100% in any normal Indian plug point with 440W power supply. The charging point for the battery is on the left side of the frame above the bottom bracket. A minor disadvantage is that the battery isn’t detachable and hence the bicycle has to be placed near a plug point to be charged.
The Lectro Lady Glide comes equipped with a Promax Disc Brake at the front and a Promax V-Brake at the rear. The stoppage power is adequate to bring the bicycle to a complete and safe stop, even at speeds of 20-25kmph.
The 630mm handlebar ensured a comfortable riding posture while offering supreme control and stability while on the saddle. The grip throttle on the right was smooth and easy to use to accelerate.
The Lectro Lady Glide comes equipped with 26” x 1.9” tires. The wheels enabled efficient control and grip while turning on sharp corners. The width of the tire is necessary for stability with the power this bicycle offers. These tires were fast rolling and stable, making them ideal for urban commutes. The QR on the seat post enables easy adjustments of the saddle height. The stock PU Saddle has an ideal length and width to ensure comfort even when on longer rides.
