Ninety One is an Indian Bicycle brand and their range includes Electric, MTB, Hybrid and City Bicycles for Men, Women and Children. This major player currently in the Indian Bicycle market has an extensive range of Bicycles with numerous designs and colours. We got the opportunity to test ride the Ninety One Drago 29T Multispeed and here is what we thought.
Weight: 19.2kgs
Usage: Leisure/Fitness
The Ninety One Drago 29T Multispeed is built around a Hardtail Hi-Ten Steel frame. While Steel is known to be heavy, this Bicycle had a good distribution of weight which was evident when riding on both flats and inclines. The geometry was standard and comfort focused with a slanting top tube.
This suspension can handle flat to moderate trail surfaces and has a travel of 80mm which is sufficient for bumps, potholes and unpaved surfaces as well.
The Drago 29T Multispeed from Ninety One which we test rode came with Black as the primary colour and Blue as the secondary colour for the dual shade frame. The Black saddle with the 91 logo printed is definitely eye catching and the dragon decal subtly blended into the top tube is a nice aesthetic touch. The matte finish paint job was top notch in quality. The heavily treaded tires and slanting top tube gives it a rugged MTB look.
The Drago 29T Multispeed comes with a 3x7-Speed Shimano Tourney drivetrain, with three gears in the front and seven in the back, giving you the capability to climb steep inclines and go fast on urban roads. These gears are just enough for moderate level climbs and quick shifts on trails. The Shimano trigger shifters were the standard offer to operate Tourney derailleurs.
This Hardtail MTB’s stopping power is handled by a pair of Purk Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear. These brakes were powerful, safe and balanced on rough and smooth roads. Both interval and jamming of brakes felt in control when used during the test ride.
The riser handlebar on this Bicycle was both comfortable and wide enough to give the rider an open chested riding posture.
The 29” x 2.4” Hi-Traction Hartex MTB tires on the Ninety One Drago 29T Multispeed were heavily treaded to generate a lot of traction on rough surfaces. While the 29” circumference handles the efficient riding over rough surfaces the massive 2.4” width made sure the Bicycle is stable and balanced on wet and muddy surfaces.
The stock saddle had enough cushioning to keep the rider comfortable on bumpy rides.
This is a Hardtail MTB with an aesthetic matte finish. The 29” x 2.4” tires and Mechanical Disc brakes make sure the Bicycle can handle fast rides on rough surfaces. While the Bicycle comes in a standard 18.5”frame size, the riding posture was comfortable and the 21-Speed Shimano Tourney gears were smooth to shift. Priced at Rs.16,999(as on 1st July 2023) the Ninety One Drago 29T Multispeed is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a Bicycle for leisure rides on rough roads and flat trails.
