Ninety One is a new Bicycle brand which was previously named Frog. This complete revamp of the brand name and design also came with new models being introduced. Ninety One’s parent company Alpha Vector are driven by their goal of reconnecting you with the outdoors through delightful products that appeal to the lifestyle and fitness aspiration of India's youth. We got the opportunity to test ride the Ninety One Invictus 27.5T and here is what we thought.
Weight: 15.5 kgs
Category: Fitness/Commuting/Leisure
The Ninety One Invictus 27.5 is built on a performance focused Alloy 6061 Hardtail frame which is lightweight. This frame definitely stands out when compared to other MTB models in this brand. The weight is equally distributed on the frame and makes it easy to climb inclines. The riding posture was comfortable with an endurance focused frame geometry.
The Suntour front suspension fork comes with a smoothly working 100mm travel and a suspension lock-out feature to help ride faster on flatter terrains.
The Ninety One Invictus 27.5T is a good looking hardtail MTB. The frame design, unique and eye catchy tube profiles, along with bold graphics makes the Invictus a head turner. The internal cable routing on the frame is a great addition to a Bicycle at this price. The Bicycle which I test rode came in a full Military Green primary colour with Black, Red and White as the secondary colours for graphics and text. The matte finish paint job was top notch in quality.
The Ninety One Invictus 27.5T comes with an impressive 24-Speed drivetrain, the combination of a 3-Speed Shimano Tourney in the front, and an 8-Speed Shimano Acera at the rear along with a Shimano 8-Speed cassette resulted in smooth shifting with no evident lags during the test ride. The drive train is controlled by Shimano EF500 Alloy shifters, which were positioned well and are easy to use. This gear combination is ideal and this Tourney/Acera derailleur combination is a great value drivetrain at this price point.
The Invictus comes with JAK branded Mechanical Disc brakes. These brakes were solid in stopping power and felt balanced to use even when I jammed the brakes. The levers were also lengthy and had an easy spring action which made it possible to operate using just 2 or 3 fingers.
The Alloy handlebar on this MTB had a slight raise from the middle which gave the rider a comfortable riding posture.
The Invictus rolls on a pair of 27.5”x 2.20” DSI tires which are fixed on Double Walled Alloy rims. The treading and size of the tire was ideal for moderate trail riding and for riding on rough urban roads as well. The rolling resistance was fast and the tread pattern provided enough traction on wet roads as well.
The stock saddle is well cushioned to give the rider sore free and comfortable ride on the roughest of rides on the trails.
The Ninety One Invictus 27.5T is a hardtail MTB built on an Alloy frame which has the perfect strength and weight ratio. The 24-Speed Shimano Tourney/Acera drivetrain is mid-level in hierarchy and provided smooth gear shifting performance. The JAK Mechanical Disc brakes along with the 27.5” x 2.20” DSI tires made this bicycle roll over roughest of surfaces and stop quickly and in a balanced manner. Priced at Rs.30,999(as on 3rd February 2021) the Ninety One Invictus 27.5T is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy an MTB for mid-level trail rides and tackle rough urban roads.
