Ninety One’s parent company Alpha Vector are driven by their goal of reconnecting you with the outdoors through a wide range of Bicycles that appeal to the lifestyle and fitness aspiration of India's youth. We got the opportunity to test ride Ninety One’s Leopard 27.5T and here is what we thought.
Weight: 17.5 kgs
Usage: Leisure/Trails
The Ninety One Leopard 27.5T is built around a hardtail Steel frame. This Steel frame has a conventional frame geometry which was comfortable to ride. The slanting top tube ensured a higher stand over clearance for the rider and made it easy to get on and get off the Bicycle. This frame was capable of taking in vibrations of the surface on rough urban roads.
This Hardtail MTB comes with a 91 stock front suspension fork with a working travel of 80mm. The travel was smooth in working during the test ride and helped tackle bad roads with ease.
The Leopard 27.5T from Ninety One which I test rode came with Black as the primary colour and Orange as the secondary colour for the graphics and text. The matte finish paint job was good in quality. The Black cables were colour coordinated with the frame. The themed saddle with bold ‘91’ text is definitely eye catching.
The Ninety One Leopard 27.5T comes equipped with Microshift Mezzo at the front and rear as derailleurs. These are entry-level gearing components and equivalent in performance and quality to Shimano Tourney derailleurs. On rough urban roads these derailleurs were ideal for quick and short gear changes. The Microshift 21-Speed trigger shifters were easy to use and in easy reach from the handlebar grips.
This MTB’s stopping power is handled by a pair of Sprandom Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear. These brakes were safe and balanced on both rough and smooth roads. Both interval and jamming of brakes felt in control when used during the test ride.
The handlebar on this Bicycle was both comfortable and wide enough with a raise from the middle to give the rider an open chested riding posture.
The 27.5” x 2.1” Hartex MTB tires on the Ninety One Leopard were heavily treaded to generate a lot of traction on rough surfaces. The 27.5” circumference made it easy to ride over rough urban roads. The stock saddle was wide and had enough cushioning to keep the rider comfortable on bumpy rides.
This Hardtail MTB is built on a strong Steel frame with a comfortable riding posture. The 21-Speed Microshift derailleurs were smooth in shifting. The Sprandom Mechanical Disc brakes were powerful and quick to stop. Priced at Rs.16,399(as on 16th April 2021), the Ninety One Leopard 27.5T is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a Bicycle for leisure rides and commutes on rough urban roads.
