Weight: 15.3kgs
Category: Fitness/Commuting/Trail
The Ninety One Spitfire 27.5 T is built on a performance focused Hardtail frame. This frame definitely stands out when compared to other MTB models from this brand. This frame is built using 6061 Alloy and the first thing which stands out during the ride is the lightweight. The weight is equally distributed on the frame and makes it easy to climb inclines and also lift it and carry it up the staircase. The riding posture was comfortable with an endurance focused frame geometry.
The Zoom front suspension fork comes with a smoothly working 80mm travel and a suspension lock-out feature to help ride faster on flatter terrains.
The Ninety One Spitfire 27.5T is a good looking Hardtail MTB. The frame design, unique and eye catchy tube profiles, along with the bold graphics makes the Spitfire a head turner. The Bicycle which we test rode came in a full Black primary colour with Grey, Orange and Yellow as the secondary colours for the graphics and text. The matte finish paint job was top notch in quality.
The 21-Speed drivetrain on the Spitfire 27.5T is a combination of a 3-speed Shimano Tourney in the front and a 7-Speed Shimano Acera at the rear, along with a 7-Speed freewheel. Shifting was good across gears, with hardly any lags felt during the test ride. The drivetrain is controlled by Shimano trigger shifters, which were positioned well and are easy to use. This gear combination is ideal and this Tourney/Acera is a great value drivetrain.
The Spitfire 27.5T comes with JAK branded Mechanical Disc brakes. These brakes were solid in stopping power and felt balanced to use even when jamming the brakes. The levers were also lengthy and had an easy spring action which made it possible to operate using just 2 or 3 fingers.
The Alloy handlebar on this MTB had a slight raise from the middle which gave the rider a comfortable riding posture.
The Spitfire rolls on a pair of 27.5” x 2.20” DSI MTB tires which are fixed on Double Walled Alloy rims. The treading and size of the tires were ideal for moderate trail riding and on rough urban roads as well. The rolling resistance was fast and the tread pattern provided enough traction on wet roads as well.
The stock Saddle looks and feels well cushioned to give the rider a sore free and comfortable ride on the roughest of rides.
This Hardtail MTB is built on an Alloy frame which has the perfect combination of strength and weight. The 21-Speed Shimano Tourney/Acera drivetrain is mid-level in hierarchy and provided smooth gear shifting performance. The JAK Mechanical Disc brakes along with the 27.5” x 2.10” DSI tires made this Bicycle roll over the roughest of surfaces and stop quickly and in a balanced manner. Priced at Rs.31,764(as on 5th July 2023) the Ninety One Spitfire 27.5T is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy an MTB for mid-level trail rides and to tackle rough urban roads.
