Ninety One is a brand that has gained immense popularity in India in a short period of time, with their wide range of Urban, MTB, Hybrid and Kids Bicycles. Ninety One as a brand is known for well specc’d and well designed Bicycles. We got the opportunity to test ride the Ninety One VantageX 27.5T and here is what we thought.
Weight: 19.4 kgs
Usage: Leisure/Fitness
The Ninety One VantageX 27.5T is built around a Hi-Ten Steel frame. This frame has bulky tubes which support the bulky wheelset and the ride geometry is comfortable. The slanting top tube helps the rider get extra standover clearance. The ECA Suspension fork comes with a working travel of 80mm during the test ride. This helps in having a comfortable ride on bumpy roads and trails.
The VantageX from Ninety One which I test rode came with full Black as the primary colour with Orange as the secondary colour for the graphics and text. The bulky 3” width tires make the bicycle look hefty and strong. The colour coded cables, fork and rims enhance the aesthetics of this bicycle.
The VantageX 27.5T comes equipped with Shimano Tourney at the front and rear as derailleurs. These are entry-level gearing components in Shimano’s MTB hierarchy and they performed to their limits during the test ride. On rough urban roads and flat trails, these derailleurs were ideal for quick and short gear changes. The Shimano trigger shifters were easy to use and in easy reach from the handlebar grips.
This Fat Bicycle’s stopping power is handled by a pair of JAK Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear. These brakes were powerful, safe and balanced on both rough and smooth surfaces. During both interval and jamming of brakes, I felt in control during the test.
The Alloy handlebar on this Bicycle was both comfortable and wide enough to give the rider an open chested riding posture.
The DSI 27.5” x 3.0” tires on the Ninety One VantageX are heavily treaded and generate a lot of traction on rough surfaces. While the 27.5” circumference handles the fast rolling resistance the 3.0” width makes sure the Bicycle can roll over nearly any kind of surface easily. The stock saddle had enough cushioning to keep the rider comfortable on bumpy rides.
The Ninety One VantageX 27.5T is built on a strong Steel frame which is comfortable to ride as well. The 27.5” x 3.0” wide tires were ideal for riding over any rough surface. The Mechanical Disc brakes were powerful and the 21-Speed Shimano Tourney gears helped ride this Fat Bike with ease on inclines as well. Priced at Rs.19,999(as on 18th March 2021) the Ninety One VantageX 27.5T is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a Fat Tire Bicycle for leisure rides on rough roads and trails.
