One Bikes is an International Bicycle brand with a wide range of Bicycles. This brand has just launched in India with a limited number of models. We got the opportunity to test ride the One Bikes Tornado 29 and here is what we thought.
Weight: 14.9kgs
Usage: Fitness/Trail
The One Bikes Tornado is built on a lightweight full Alloy frame. The geometry is comfort focused and this is needed for fast and controlled rides on trails. This frame has an almost straight top tube, smoothly welded frame and a short thin rear triangle for increased stability.
The stock front suspension fork came with a working 80-100mm travel depending on the terrain, which helped make the ride comfortable when rolling over bumpy surfaces.
One Bike’s designs seem to be simple yet elegant with smooth welding of the tubes. The Bicycle I test rode came in a Red gloss finish frame with Black and White as the secondary colours for text and graphics. The Black rims, suspension fork and Saddle were a good contrast to the bright Gloss Red frame colour.
The One Bike Tornado gets a 3x7-Speed Shimano Tourney drivetrain, with three gears in front and seven in the back, giving you the capabilities to climb steep inclines and go fast on urban roads. This 21-Speed gear system is controlled by Shimano trigger shifters. During the test ride the gears felt smooth to shift with no evident lag.
The Speed Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear on the One Bikes Tornado were just about sufficient for safe and quick stoppages on both flat trails and rough/wet urban roads. The brake levers were in close reach from the handlebar grip and easy to engage.
The Alloy handlebar was lengthy and flat with bar ends on both sides. This gave an additional handlebar position for an occasional relaxed riding posture for the rider.
As the name of the bicycle suggests the One Bikes Tornado 29 rolls on a pair of 29” x 2.10” MTB tires. These tires were the perfect combination of grip and speed. The heavy and uniform tread pattern made it easier to roll on hard surfaces and the 29” circumference and alloy rims made it faster.
The stock saddle was both ergonomic in design and had ample cushioning to keep the rider comfortable on the bumpiest of rides.
This Hardtail MTB is built on an Alloy frame and has a comfortable riding posture. The front suspension fork made the ride easier on bumpy surfaces. The 21-Speed gears and Mechanical Disc brakes made it possible to ride on urban roads and on muddy and wet surfaces with ease. Priced at Rs.22,900(as on 25th October 2022) the One Bikes Tornado 29 is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy an MTB for both Trails and Urban Rides.
