The frame is strong and can take in a lot of hard hitting from the surface.
The front suspension fork was smooth and the 100mm travel was sufficient to make sure the bumps on the trails are not fully transferred to the rider.
The Shimano Altus/Acera 24-Speed combination of gears were smooth in operation.
The Tektro HD-M275 Hydraulic Disc brakes were powerful and the 760mm handlebar was perfect for trail racing.
The Deli 29" MTB tires had bulky treads which were evenly spread out.
Polygon is an International Bicycle brand originating from Indonesia with its headquarters in Europe now. They have been in the industry for a long time now and are known for performance focused bicycles with a competitive price tag. We got the opportunity to test ride the Polygon Premier 4 29 (2019) and here is what we thought.
Weight: 15.5 kgs
Usage: Trail/Fitness/Leisure
The Premier 4 29 (2019) uses an ALX Alloy frame. ALX stands for Alloy Cross Country which means this frame is designed keeping in mind the Cross-Country ride usage of this MTB. The frame is strong and can take in a lot of hard hitting from the surface. But at the same time it is also lightweight when it comes to MTB standards.
The Suntour XCM front suspension fork on this bicycle was smooth and the long travel of 100mm was sufficient to make sure the bumps on the trails are not fully transferred to the rider.
The Premier 4 29 (2019) which I test rode came in a full Black frame with Brown and Turquoise Blue graphics. The matte finish paint job is of top quality and blends the colours used in a neat manner. The slanting top tube and the long straight handlebar make this bicycle look longer and sleeker in design. The colour coded rims and fork along with the bulky treads on the tire make this MTB score high in the looks department.
This hardtail MTB from Polygon comes equipped with Shimano Altus at the front and Shimano Acera at the rear as derailleurs. These are mid-level MTB specific componentry from Shimano and they did perform well during the test ride. Quick shifts of up and down were smooth and did not have any lags. The 3x8-Speed combination with Shimano ST-EF505 shifters made sure there was enough range of gears for climbs and acceleration.
The Tektro HD-M275 Hydraulics Disc brakes handled the stopping power on the Premier 4 29 (2019). These brakes are as powerful as it can get on a Cross-County specific Trail Bicycle. During the test ride these brakes were balanced and powerful enough to bring the bicycle to a safe but quick halt.
The 760mm Entity branded handlebar was lengthy and not the most comfortable if you are looking to commute with it. But they are perfectly suited for trail races on single tracks with up’s and downs.
This Hardtail MTB rolls on a pair of Deli 29” x 2.25” tires. These tires are heavily treaded with bulky treads which cover the tires evenly. This makes sure that even fast cornering is safe on wet trails.
The Entity MTB saddle is perfectly designed to make sure the rider is safe and sore free on a bumpy ride.
This MTB has a strong yet lightweight Alloy frame. The frame is designed with a Cross Country Trail Racing profile. The powerful Hydraulic Disc brakes make it perfectly safe to brake when riding fast on trails. The heavily treaded tires provide enough traction and rolls safely on wet and dry surfaces. Priced at Rs.32,490 (as on 18th March 2020) the Polygon Premier 4 29 (2019) is an ideal choice MTB for occasional racing and leisure trail rides.
