Polygon is an International Bicycle brand manufactured in Indonesia. They are known for Bicycles with Performance focused components with a value for money price tag. Strattos is Polygon’s entry-level range of road bicycles. We got the opportunity to test ride the Polygon Strattos S3 (2019) and here is what we thought.
Weight: 10.6 Kgs
Usage: Sport/Racing
The Strattos S3 (2019) is built on an ALX Performance Road Full Alloy frame. The frame geometry is endurance focused and can be safely termed as an all-rounder as the riding posture on the hoods and drops are suited well for both flat out speeds and tiresome hill climbs. The tapered Carbon fork is super-light and helps immensely in reducing the overall weight of the bicycle.
This Road Bicycle from Polygon which I test rode came in a full Black frame with Red as the secondary colour. The gloss finish paint job was smooth with bright Red graphics. Internal cable routing for the gears made sure the bicycle looked neat, the internal cable routing also increases the life of the cables.
The Strattos S3 is equipped with an 18-Speed Shimano Sora groupset. Sora is the 2nd from bottom after Claris in Shimano’s road component line-up. The shifting was quick and responsive during the test ride. The Sora 2x9 paddle shifters are easy and smooth in usage.
The Polygon Strattos S3 2019’s stopping power is handled by Tektro R-312 standard Road Caliper brakes. The dual pivots provide light, comfortable performance when stopping on both dry and wet roads.
The Entity Sport Alloy drop handlebar on this bicycle was comfortable on the hoods and drops. The bar tape was grippy even with wet hands and gloves. The 48-51cm frame sizes comes with a 400mm handlebar and the 54-60cm frame sizes comes with a 420mm handlebar.
The 700x28C compound road tires were perfect for racing and climbing on smooth tarmacs. The rubber compounds were strong and does give a long life, thus making it value for money.
The Entity Aion stock saddle was designed ergonomically for an endurance Road Bicycle to make sure the rider can be seated for long hours without experiencing any soreness.
This Road Bicycle has an endurance focused frame geometry, making it comfortable for long rides and climbs. The 2x9-Speed full Sora drivetrain was smooth and precise in shifting. The internal gear cable routing helps with increasing the life of the cables and also makes it look neater. Priced at Rs.56,990(as on 24th December 2019) the Polygon Strattos S3 (2019) is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a Road Bicycle for long Endurance rides and Amateur Racing as well.
