Roadeo is an Indian bicycle brand under the T.I Cycles of India umbrella. Their strength lies in the teenage and adult Urban MTBs. The 2019 range of Roadeo’s have a lot of repeat models with new designs and also some exciting new releases as well. We got the opportunity to test ride the newly launched Roadeo A85 27.5 DD and here is what we thought.
Weight: 15.5 kgs
Usage: Leisure/Commute
The Roadeo A85 27.5 DD (2019) is built using a strong hardtail Alloy frame. This frame has a slanting top tube which gives extra stand over clearance for the rider. This helps when riding on bumpy surfaces. The tubes are bulky to give strength to the frame.
This is a hardtail MTB and comes with a front suspension fork. This threadless steel suspension fork comes with a minimal 60mm working travel. The suspension lockout on these forks helps in making the bicycle rigid which gives that extra acceleration on flat surfaces. This is an exciting feature on an entry-level Urban MTB.
The bicycle which I test rode came in a dual shade Black and Orange frame with White graphics. The gloss finish paint job was of superior quality giving a smooth finish. The bottle cage bolts, heavily treaded tires and the suspension lockout are exciting features as well.
This hardtail MTB is equipped with Shimano Tourney TZ at the front and Tourney TY at the rear. These gears are entry-level in the Shimano MTB hierarchy and they shifted smoothly. The 21-Speed Shimano EF-500 trigger shifters were easy to use and in easy reach from the handlebar grips.
The Logan branded Mechanical Disc brakes on the RoadeoA85 (2019) were balanced and the standard brake levers made it easy to operate. They were powerful enough to bring the bicycle to a sudden halt in both rough and smooth surfaces.
The XMR 620mm handlebar on this bicycle did feel wide and this made the riding posture open chested and makes the rider in full control of the bicycle.
The Nylon 27.5” x 2.10” tires in the Roadeo A85 (2019) is heavily treaded and this helps in rolling over rough surfaces easily. The treads are spread out in a uniform manner and helps get enough traction even on fast turns. The XMR PU Saddle has enough cushioning to make sure the rider is sore free when riding over bumpy surfaces.
This hardtail Urban MTB has extra standover clearance thanks to its slanting top tube. The Alloy frame is lightweight and strong, making it easy to ride on inclines. Logan’s Mechanical Disc brakes are powerful enough for sudden stops on rough surfaces The suspension lockout feature was definitely an exciting and useful feature. Priced at Rs.17,250(as on 23rd May 2019) the Roadeo A85 27.5 DD (2019) is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy an Urban MTB.
