With an Aim to reimagine the way Bicycles are engineered and designed, Triad has a range of Bicycles that place an emphasis on form, function and design. With the belief that every product made will influence and shape consumers in various ways, the brand has a wide range of Bicycles on offer catering to a wide demand. We got to test ride the Triad FTB Pro and here is what we thought.
Weight: 19.7 kgs
Usage: Recreational/Fitness
FTB in Triad stands for Fat Tire Bicycle. Popularly called as Fat bikes the FTB Pro from Triad is built on a 6061 full Alloy frame. While Fat Tire Bicycles are always heavier than conventional cycles, having a hydroformed Alloy frame definitely helps in keeping the weight in check. The curving top tube makes sure the rider gets extra standover clearance for a safe riding experience. The seat tube splits into 2 at the bottom and joins the bottom bracket area, this ensures equal weight distribution on the frame and also helps absorb vibrations from the surface.
The upgrade from the FTB to the FTB Pro is the inclusion of a front suspension fork. This stock suspension fork is smooth in functioning and ensured a comfortable ride over the roughest of surfaces.
The Triad FTB Pro which I test rode came in a full Black primary colour with Orange as the secondary colour for the text and graphics. The unique top tube design which turns from tubular to sleek is aesthetic. The racy graphics on the frame in Orange are of good contrast to the Black primary colour. The colour coded saddle, fork and massive 4” wide tires give the bicycle the rugged characteristics which is essential for a Fat Tire Bicycle.
The Triad FTB Pro is a 21-Speed Bicycle equipped with Shimano Tourney front and rear derailleurs and is controlled by Shimano EF500 Alloy trigger shifters. When on the test ride, the shifting was smooth and precise with no evident lag. The gear transmissions were seamless and the trigger shifters were easy to operate, requiring an easy push and pull to shift between gears.
The FTB Pro’s stopping power is handled by a pair of Logan Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear. These brakes were powerful, safe and balanced to use when used on rough and smooth roads. Both interval and jamming of brakes felt in control when used during the test ride.
The ATB upswept Alloy 640mm handlebar on this Bicycle was wide enough to give the rider a upright and open chested riding posture.
The Triad FTB Pro rolls on a pair of 26” x 4” tires. The bulky treading on the tires provides added grip and superior traction across all terrains. The tires offer superior grip and offers added balance and stability on both roads and trails. The wheels on the bicycle ensure that it is well-equipped to easily handle a range of terrains including sand, mud, tar and even snow. Both the wheels come with a quick release option for easy removal.
The stock saddle does seem a bit lengthy but was ideal in width for a comfortable soreness free ride.
This is an Alloy Fat Tire Bicycle which is lightweight and is comfortable ride. The powerful Logan Mechanical Disc brakes and the smooth shifting Shimano Tourney gears make this a smooth and safe to ride Bicycle. The front suspension fork definitely added extra comfort to the overall riding experience. Priced at Rs.28,234 (as on 9th October 2020) the Triad FTB Pro is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a Fat Tire Bicycle for riding on various terrains for recreational, leisure and fitness purposes.
