The frame has the right geometry and is lightweight which makes sure the riding posture is comfortable for both endurance and offroad rides.
A suspension fork with mechanical lockout works well for our Indian roads
The shifting is slightly lagging on the front derailers, the updated pro wheel crank makes it better on rough roads with minimum effort.
The hydraulic brakes come in handy for the budget.
Branded Kenda tyres give the perfect look to the bike, tread pattern has enough traction to keep the ride safe on gravels and flats.
UNIROX, a subsidiary of the United Group, was created in 1964. Unirox Bikes are an economical way to enjoy the thrills of high-performance Cycling. German innovation and manufacturing competence have been their strengths. We got the opportunity to test ride the Unirox Wrangler 27.5 HD MTB Bicycle and here is what we thought.
Weight: 17kg
Usage:commute and off-road
The Wrangler 27.5 HD comes with an Aluminium frame. The frame has an aggressive position yet gives the rider supreme control on trails. Both the top tube and bottom tube are flat which makes the tubes sleek and keeps the weight under 17kgs. During the test ride, the mechanical front suspension worked well on harsh roads, flat roads, and rough trails. However, a Suspension lockout could have been included in the price of this bicycle.
The internal cable routing made the Bicycle look neat and the color-coordinated rims and suspension made this Mountain Bike look good on outdoors.
The 24-speed drivetrain on the Unirox Wrangler HD is a combination of a 3-speed Shimano Tourney as the front derailleur and an 8-speed Shimano Acera as the rear derailleur. Shifting was good across gears, with hardly any lags felt during the test ride. This gear combination is ideal and expected at this price point. The drivetrain is controlled by Shimano shifters, which were positioned well and easy to use.
The Unirox Wrangler 27.5 HD comes with Hydraulic Disc brakes from Logan. These brakes were slightly sluggish in stopping but felt balanced to use when jamming them. The levers are lengthy and make it possible to operate using just 2 fingers.
The Unirox Wrangler 27.5 HD rolls on a pair of “Kenda 27.5 x 2.35” tires that are fixed onto double-walled alloy rims. The treading and size of the tire were ideal for city commuting and off-road. The rolling resistance was fast and the tread pattern provided enough traction on wet roads as well. The stock saddle has an ergonomic shape and build to it but could have had more cushioning for better comfort.
This is a Hybrid Bicycle with a comfortable Alloy frame which is easy to accelerate and also to ride on inclines. The aesthetic design with a matt finish paint job made the Bicycle look premium. The ride quality was enhanced by an impressive Shimano Altus 24-speed drivetrain, fast-rolling Kenda 27.5 x 2.35 tires, and also hydraulic Disc brakes. Priced at Rs. 31,873 (as of 12th June 2024), the Unirox Wrangler 27.5 HD is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy an MTB for daily commutes and off-roading.
