Weight: 13.1kgs
Category: Fitness/Commute
The WaltX Trak 3 has been made using a 6061 Alloy frame that is lightweight and durable. The hydroforming technology used while building the frame reinforces the strength of the welds, while contributing to the reduced overall weight of the bicycle. The ergonomically designed frame geometry ensures a comfortable and relaxed ‘upright riding position without compromising on performance. The frame has the provision to attach a water bottle holder to it.
This bicycle is equipped with a threadless Steel rigid fork that is lightweight and easy to maintain. The design of the fork is such that there is only a minimal transfer of vibrations to the handlebar and the rider and can withstand a range of riding conditions with ease. This bicycle is available in a single sizing option – 18”.
Subdued yet bright – this seems to be the theme for the design of the Walt X Trak 3. This bicycle comes in a single colour option – a Matte Black primary colour with bright Azure Blue and Traffic Orange graphics. The usage of bright colours on a pitch black frame adds an element of fun and excitement to an otherwise plain frame – this enhances the overall aesthetic appeal of the bicycle. The premium quality of the matte finish paint jpb is evident with one look at the bicycle.
The WaltX Trak 3 is a geared bicycle that comes equipped with a 21-Speed drivetrain – a Shimano Tourney 3-Speed front derailleur and Shimano Tourney TZ50 7-Speed Rear derailleur. The shifting is controlled by Shimano STEF41 trigger shifters. The shifters were responsive and crisp, however I experienced a slight lag in the shifting of the front derailleur. The shifting of the rear derailleurs was resposive, quick and efficient with no evident lag. The difference in shifting could be attributed to the different brands used for the derailleurs. The shifters were easy to use and responsive, they required just the slightest push to shift. Given the price point of the bicycle, even just a basic entry-level Shimano Tourney componentry is expected.
The WaltX Trak 3 comes equipped with a Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and at the rear. Braking felt safe and stable with adequate power to bring the bicycle to a safe stop – even at high speeds. Additionally, the braking is sure to work well on both wet and dry surfaces.
A wide 620mm handlebar ensures an ‘open-chested’ riding position that is comfortable. Additionally, the length of the handlebar ensured supreme control of the bicycle and quick handling and maneuvering in congested riding conditions. The handlebar could be a little long for riders who are short or have shorter arms. The grips on the handlebar are slightly hard and could do with a bit more cushioning, especially while on longer rides.
The WaltX Trak 3 rolls on a pair of DSI 700x35C hybrid tires which are attached to Alloy double walled rims. The tires are smooth and mildly treaded – thus ensuring that they are fast rolling with adequate grip for usage on flat surfaces. Cornering is stable and safe with the ability to take quick sharp turns.
The WaltX Trak 3 comes equipped with a PU Foam Comfort Saddle. The saddle is wide enough to comfortably accomodate one’s sit bones, but I found that the saddle was slightly long and could do with a little extra cushioning. The seat post has a QR option that enables easy and quick adjustment of the saddle height.
The WaltX Trak 3 is an ideal entry-level hybrid bicycle and is a good option for beginners looking for a 21-Speed bicycle for weekend rides, commutes and fitness. The bicycle is priced at Rs. 17,308 (as on 1st October 2019).
