Firefox is an Indian performance bicycle brand with a varied range of City, Hybrid and MTBs. Majority of their bicycle models are urban specific and are built for comfort. Firefox has a wide range of urban MTB's and we got the opportunity to test ride the Firefox Tank 6 Speed and here is what we thought. Usage: 17.6 kgs Weight: Leisure/Commute
A comfortable and aesthetic urban MTB for leisure rides and city commutes.
The Firefox Tank is built on a strong Steel frame with both a front and rear suspension. This Steel frame is strong is capable of handling really rough surfaces on urban roads. Thanks to the simple frame geometry, the riding posture is comfortable for short commutes and leisure urban rides. Steel frames are on the heavier side and this bicycle weighs 17.6kgs, which is heavy and is felt mainly during inclines and climbs on urban roads. This bicycle comes with a front and rear suspension. The front Zoom suspension comes with a 5mm travel, which was sufficient for speed breakers and potholes on city roads. The rear suspension is just enough to absorb vibrations of huge bumps on the road.

This Steel frame comes in just 1 standard 18” frame size and weighs 17.6 kgs
This urban MTB comes with a 6 speed Shimano Tourney TX3B rear derailleur. This 1x6 Speed derailleur setup is entry level but was ideal for short commutes and leisure rides with quick shifts with minimal lag. The Shimano RS35 6 speed Revo grip is easy to use for beginner riders.

The 1x6 Speed drivetrain with a Shimano Tourney TX3 rear derailleur and Revo shifters were basic and easy to use
The Tank 6 Speed that I test rode came in a full Grey frame with Red as the secondary colour. The contrasting colours were bright in appearance and also had a shining gloss finish to it. The rear suspension frame design was sporty. With bulky tire treads and dual suspension fork, this bicycle does have a lot of MTB characteristics which is sure to excite a teenage rider.

The Firefox Tank 6 speed comes in 2 colour variants; Grey with Red and Black with Red
The Tank 6 Speed comes equipped with front and rear Power V-brakes. These brakes are standard brakes found on this category of bicycles. During the test ride on dry roads these brakes performed well to get the bicycle to stop quickly and in a balanced manner. The 58mm Steel handlebar was compact with a 3mm raise which made sure the riding posture was comfortable.

Basic front and rear power V-brakes on the Tank 6 Speed performed decently on city roads
The Compass 26” x 1.95” tires on the Tank 6 Speed were fast rolling on city roads and along with double walled alloy rims made this a strong wheelset to withstand rough surfaces. The treads aren’t the hardest and strongest but they are big enough to make sure they grip on to city roads. The stock Firefox saddle wasn’t the most ergonomic but had lot of cushioning to make sure the rider is comfortable even on bumpy roads.

This bicycle with front and rear suspensions are not be mistaken for full suspension MTB's. This bicycle is meant to be ridden on urban roads, which are smooth and rough for commuting and/or leisure rides. The Shimano Tourney 6-Speed rear derailleur along with Revo grip shifters was basic and ideal for teenage riders. The 2 aesthetic colour variants give the rider varied choices to choose from. Priced at Rs.13,3 (as on 7th March 219) the Firefox Tank 6-Speed is the ideal choice for both adult and teenagers for short rides and city commutes.Prices are subject to change by the brand, without due notice.
