Hercules Roadeo Hannibal 27.5" (2017) Review

The Roadeo range of bicycles from Hercules have become a popular name associated with variety and affordability, over the last couple of years. These bicycles are primarily aimed to grab the attention of teenagers, in school. However in 2017, with the introduction of a wider range of bicycles with more options in sizing, Hercules has expanded its target group for the Roadeo series to adults as well. We got the opportunity to test ride the Hercules Roadeo Hannibal 27.5(2017) and here is what we thought.

An affordable MTB ideal for leisure rides, regular commutes and mild trails.

Snapshot

The Hercules Roadeo Hannibal 27.5” has been made using steel. Bicycles made from steel are sturdy and durable, but tend to be on the heavier side, as is with the Hercules Roadeo Hannibal 27.5. Though its weight is on the higher side, the sturdiness felt when riding the bicycle on rugged, beaten roads is rather impressive. The frame geometry allows for a comfortable riding position. The geometry of the bicycle makes it seem to be on the bigger side, and it is available in a single frame size which would be well suited to adults with an average build and height. The Hercules Roadeo Hannibal 27.5” comes with a Threadless Steel Suspension Fork with a Matte Black Finish. The full suspension frame is suitable to perform well on rugged city roads and flat surface trails. This is a leisure city MTB, and cannot be used on technical trails.

A well priced, affordable MTB

The Hercules Roadeo Hannibal is a 21-speed MTB and comes equipped with a Shimano TZ-3 front derailleur and a Shimano TZ-35 rear derailleur, whose shifting is controlled by Shimano EF-51 trigger shifters. The gearing components are expected, given the price point of the bicycle. When on the test ride, I found the shifting to be effective and precise. There was a hint of noise when it came to the gearing components, but that was only while up-shifting from the 6th to the 7th.

Effective and Precise

The Hercules Roadeo Hannibal 27.5” has been designed keeping in line with the general ‘catchy graphics’ theme of the Roadeo Series. This bicycle is available in two color variants - a matte black with orange decals and a dark blue with orange decals.

A well designed bicycle, sure to catch attention while on the road

The Hercules Roadeo Hannibal comes equipped with Dual Disc Brakes, controlled by Shimano EF-51 Brake levers. The stoppage power was impressive and did not require too much pull to get the bicycle to a complete stop. Overall, the brakes are powerful and will work well on dry and wet surfaces alike. The XMR, oversized 62mm handlebar is wide and allows for an ‘open-chested’ comfortable riding position. Wide handlebars ensure supreme control over the bicycle, and superior maneuverability in tight or crowded riding conditions.

Impressive stopping power

The Hercules Roadeo Hannibal comes equipped with 27.5” x 2.125” MTB tires that are fit onto Double Walled XMR alloy rims. The treading on the tires enable the bicycle to tackle harsh riding surfaces without a hassle. 27.5” wheels enable ease of usage both on the road and while riding on off-road conditions. The Roadeo Hannibal comes with color coded rims that match the frame. Impressive in terms of attention grasping. The soft PU XMR saddle is comfortable, and well equipped to handle commutes and leisure rides.
