Hero Cycles are one of the biggest and successful bicycle brands in India. Hero has been around for more than 6 years now and has various categories of bicycles with a few sub-brands under them. The sub-brands being Hero Sprint, Hero Sprint Pro and Hero Octane. We got the opportunity to test ride the Hero Sprint Pro Kixs 29T and here is what we thought. Weight: 17.6 kgs Category: Leisure
A multi-purpose hardtail MTB for both urban roads and flat trails.
The Hero Sprint Pro Kixs 29T is built on a strong hardtail Steel frame. MTB's are usually quite heavy and a Steel frame does contribute to that weight. But this heaviness brings in strength to the frame, which enables the bicycle to withstand a lot of hard hitting from the surface. The frame geometry was an ideal combination of comfort and aggression, which is suitable for urban rides and trails. The Suspension Forks on the Kixs 29T is the most basic and worked sufficiently to absorb vibrations from speed breakers and bumps during the test ride.

The Kixs 29T comes equipped with Shimano Tourney TZ front and Shimano SIS at the rear as derailleurs. The front derailleur is the latest edition of Tourney's from Shimano and the gear shifting was smooth and experienced no lags during the test ride. The Shimano EF-5 21-Speed shifters felt easy to use with quick and responsive spring action.

The Kixs 29T that I test rode came in a full Black frame with Orange and White as secondary colours. The matte finish paint job was smooth and enhanced the colours. The graphics in White on the top tube was neatly done and was unique as well. The placement and font of the model name was bold and flashy.

The Purk branded Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear were sufficient for precise and safe braking performance on dry and wet urban roads. During the test ride, when braking on fast turns and in traffic, it felt balanced and had a quick response time. The 68mm Alloy handlebar was wide and gave an open chested riding posture while still being comfortable. The grips were comfortable on the palms.

The Hero Sprint Pro Kixs 29T rolls on a pair of 29” x 2.1” DSI MTB tires that are connected to double walled alloy rims. The treading was bulky and evenly spaced out, giving superior traction on smooth and rough urban roads. The 29” wheel size ensured easy rolling over rough patches. The stock comfort PU saddle was sporty in design with the perfect length and width to keep the rider comfortable and stable.
