Snapshot

The Hero Sprint Thorn 26T is built on a strong Steel frame with a hardtail geometry. This Steel frame is strong and capable of handling really rough surfaces on urban roads. Thanks to the simple frame geometry, the riding posture is comfortable for short commutes and leisure urban rides. Steel frames are on the heavier side and this bicycle weighs 19.8kgs, which is heavy and is felt mainly during inclines and climbs on urban roads. This bicycle comes with a front suspension fork. The front Spur Suspension comes with a 5mm travel, which was sufficient for speed breakers and potholes on city roads.

The Thorn 26T SS is a single-speed bicycle. This simple drivetrain is easy to maintain and also pedals smoothly on city roads with minimal elevations. The 44T Steel crankset along with 18 teeth freewheel made sure the pedaling motion and acceleration was easy even from a stand still point. The pedals were wide and had a good grip pattern.

The Thorn 26T that I test rode came in a full Green frame with Blue, Black and Yellow used as the secondary colours. The contrasting colours were bright in appearance and also had a shining gloss finish to it. With bulky tire treads and a full Black front suspension fork, this bicycle does have a lot of MTB characteristics.

The Thorn has a Sprandum branded V-Brakes at the front and rear. These brakes were powerful and had enough stopping power to bring the bicycle to a quick halt on both smooth and rough Urban roads. The brake levers were lengthy and easy to use.The Steel raiser handlebar comes with a raise in the middle which made the posture comfortable. The grips are designed to give support to the palms.

The Ralson 26” x 1.95” tires on the Thorn were fast rolling on city roads and along with a strong set of rims which made this wheelset withstand rough surfaces. The treads aren’t the hardest and strongest but they are big enough to make sure they grip on to city roads. The stock Hero saddle wasn’t the most ergonomic but had lot of cushioning to make sure the rider is comfortable even on bumpy roads.
