Java Corsa Flatbar (2018) - Review

The Java Corsa Flatbar is made using a Cromoly Steel frame. Cromoly steel is a kind of low alloy steel whose name is derived from a combination of the words “chromium” and “molybdenum” – two of the major alloying elements. Cromoly Steel frames have an excellent strength to weight ratio and are considerably stronger, sturdier and more durable than standard steel frames. Additionally, they also weigh lesser than tradional steel frames. The design of the tube ensures supreme performance on all kinds of terrain – tested on cobblestones, rough urban roads and smooth city roads. The performance across all terrains was impeccable. This bicycle comes equipped with a carbon fork. The combination of a carbon and cromoly steel frame offers ideal collaboration between the frame and fork. The fork absorbs shock felt from riding on cobblestones, and/or bumpy, rough terrain efficiently.

The Java Corsa Flatbar comes equipped with a Shimano Sora Rear Derailleur and a Shimano Claris Front Derailleur. This 18-Speed bicycle is a mean machine when on the road, tackling climbs and flat roads with ease. The shifting was lag-free, it should be considering it is after all Shimano Sora enabled – which at this price point is impressive. The 18-Speed shifting is controlled by Shimano Sora Shifters which require the slightest click to shift.

The Java Corsa Flatbar is a well-designed bicycle. It's designed keeping simplicity in mind. The bicycle has thin rounded tubing keeping it's overall look sleek and classical. The bicycle we test rode came in a primary colour bright yellow with simple bold branding in black. The branding on the frame of the bicycle is significant while not being overpowering. This bicycle is available in three colour options – Black, Yellow and Titanium.

The Java Corsa Flatbar comes equipped Mechanical Disc brakes. When tested, both feathered and abrupt braking was powerful while remaining stable and in control. The braking was as effective on both dry and wet terrain on the test ride. This bicycle comes equipped with a flat handlebar. The handlebar on this bicycle was wide enough to ensure optimum control and maneuvering through traffic on busy roads. Additionally, the ergonomic grips on the handlebar were well cushioned, ensuring a comfortable ride.

The Java Corsa Flatbar comes equipped with fast rolling and sleek 7x23C tires. The tires offered a smooth and fast ride. Cornering felt stable, allowing for crisp sharp turns while being stable. This bicycle comes equipped with a Deca Saddle. The saddle offered a level of support and cushioning that is well suited to a rider on faster, short-distance rides just as much as those riding a century. A wider saddle would have helped, especially for longer-distance rides, however, this does not affect the overall performance of this bicycle.
