The Montra Blues 1.1 has been made using a 661 alloy frame which is lightweight and agile. The frame has been welded with precision, using reduced amounts of alloy thus adding to its light weight. The top quality welding is evident in the smooth and neat appearance of the edges. The frame has an ergonomic geometry, allowing for an upright riding position that ensures performance and comfort. The frame has mounting options for two water bottle holders. Additionally, it has mounting options for mudguards, in the front and rear, as well as a pannier rack at the rear. This makes this the perfect bicycle for long distance riding and touring. This bicycle is available in four sizing options - Small (15.5”), Medium (17”), Large(19”) and Extra Large (201”). This bicycle comes equipped with a front suspension fork. The SR Suntour M31 suspension fork comes with 5mm travel and a hydraulic lock out. The suspension works well to ensure absorption of shocks felt while riding on rugged, uneven terrains and over potholes. The hydraulic lockout is a plus point and adds to the versatility of this bicycle.

A reasonably priced unisex performance-oriented hybrid bicycle
The Montra Blues 1.1 is a 21-Speed bicycle that is equipped with Shimano Altus Front and Rear Derailleurs. The shifting is controlled by Shimano Altus shifters. The derailleurs worked smoothly, with no hint of delays or lags when on the test ride. The range of gearing options makes tackling inclines and elevations easier, making this bicycle a solid option for touring and long distance riding. The gear transmission was on point, leaving no room for complaints in this department. The shifters are well placed and extremely responsive.

A 21-Speed hybrid with precise shifting
The Montra Blues 1.1 (2018) is the best looking version of this bicycle, in my opinion. The bicycle we tested came in a primary glossy black with decals of dual tones of blue (sky blue and royal blue), and branding in white. It is also available in a grey and green colour variant. Additionally, it comes with a matching colour coded saddle.

A great looking hybrid bicycle
The Montra Blues 1.1 comes equipped with Promax TX-117 V-Brakes, with 11mm arms, ensuring stability of the brakes. The brakes worked efficiently, ensuring powerful braking while staying stable. Both Interval braking and abrupt braking felt secure and solid. The Alloy Brake Levers were placed well within reach, requiring only two or three fingers to operate. The brake levers required only a light pull to ensure effective braking. These brakes work effectively on both wet and dry surfaces. However, it might require some extra force while on wet, slippery surfaces. The XMR Zoom Alloy 62mm handlebar on the Montra Blues 1.1, ensures a comfortable ‘open-chested’ riding position. Additionally, the width of the handlebar enables superior control and maneuverability of the bicycle in traffic and crowded riding conditions. The handlebar grips were fairly cushioned and worked well to ensure minimal transfer of vibrations from the handlebar to the hand and arms while riding.

Effective braking with adequate stopping power
The Montra Blues 1.1 comes equipped with fast rolling Kenda 934 7x35C hybrid tires. These tires were lightly threaded, ensuring great grip while turning at sharp corners. Additionally, they ensure added stability and control in wet riding conditions and on uneven terrain. The XMR Comfort saddle was comfortable with a hint of extra cushioning, which makes it extremely well suited to long distance riders and tourers. The width of the saddle was perfect, accommodating one's sit bones with ease. The new ergonomically designed XMR Saddles on the 218 range are exceptional and worth mentioning as a major plus point.

Fast rolling 7C tires
The Montra Blues 1.1 hasn’t got any changes this year, when compared to its last year's counterpart. The only addition would be the introduction of another frame sizing option, instead of being available in 3 sizing options - it now has four. The colour options have changed too. This bicycle is ideal for cyclists looking for a well spec’d, performance hybrid bicycle at a reasonable price point.Prices are subject to change by the brand, without due notice.
